I have 16 month old and she had three seizures in 2 hours three weeks ago. Before the first seizure, she had a stomach virus (we all had it in the house), was having diarrhea and vomiting for two days. On the third day she was very weak and dehydrated and was walking around the house, slip, hit her head (forehead on tiles), started crying, could not grasp air – and then she had her first seizure. We took her to the hospital, where she had two more seizures in 1 hour time. They done all tests in the hospital – CAT, MRI, meningitis, EEG – and all was fine. Have not find anything wrong on any of these tests.
We have been told that kids might have these “caused seizures” as a consequence of a different elements combined (sickens, lack of air, hit in a head…)? We are confused now – is this definitely epilepsy or might be just…something else? Do you know anyone who’s child had seizure ones and never again?
We do not know what to think…
We live in Dubai, and here is no pediatrician neurologist. I am waiting to go home in July to see experts and find out what is going on, are we on the right medications, is she on the right dosage…She is on Depakine 0.6 ml a day in three doses.
We saw one neurologist here, and he said it is epilepsy and gave us Keppra? Just made us more confused...
