My granddaughter is now 5 and was diagnosed with Intantile Spasms at age 6 months. Her diagnosis was changed to Lennox Gastaut at approximately age 3. She speaks only a few words and suffers from SEVERE ADHD. She literally won't sit still for longer than 30 seconds at a time. The only thing she really enjoys doing but even this she can't focus on is coloring and writing on the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk. She loves Bubbles and taking a bath. We've bombarded her with colors, coloring books, sidewalk chalk and bubble bath and bath toys. I've bought every learning toy imaginable but show won't sit still long enough to really play with them, even when you try to hold her in your lap and play with her. I'm at a total loss for new toys or ways to entertain. Anyone else experiencing anything like this and/or have suggestions of toys or other items that would be beneficial to her or helpful? I would appreciate any input from you all. Thanks so much!!!

the other thing you might want to try is toys for kids with sensory integration difficulties. Often kids that won't sit still are looking for the sensory input that will calm them down.... my one daughter needs to spend time spinning... it gives her the intense vestibular input needed to help her to focus on things. Generally 20 minutes of an appropriate sensory input activity will equal about 2 hours of a calm child. these kid of activities increase the dopamine levels in the brain. Try looking at the things on this website... http://www.sensory-processing-disorder.c...

I agree with Angela, discovery toys has some pretty fantastic stuff. They have one cd called, sounds like learning and I got that for my kids. They loved it!

sounds like you already know what works for her, now just buy the toys that teach in the tub, magnets, learn to read by writing on the tub with colored bath paint, the list goes on. There are many learning toys for chalk too. look up discovery toys online I love them. I hope I helped somewhat.
