to all the parents who have Children with Epilepsy My Son was diagnosed with Epilepsy when he was 13 he had a grand mal seizure & when he was 15 he had a grand mal Seizure in the night & died we were later told he had died of SUDEP (sudden unexplained death of an Epileptic Patient ) we were then told we could have got a special mat that goes on the bed under the sheet which will alarm if the person stops breathing I dont want to scare anyone but I had epilepsy from the age of 5 & my Mother didnt know you could die My 15yr old daughter has just been diagnosed with Epilepsy & we will be getting her a mat for her bed because we never want to go through that again I implore you to discuss SUDEP with your Doctor & I pray you never have to go through what we went through if you have any Questions please ask I will try & answer them Thanks Debbie

so sorry to hear of you loss! my daughter is nearly 8 and has epilepsy she was diagnosed at 5 even though i have known since she was born, it was a hard fight to get her the right treatment, she was having up to 100+ complex partial seizures a day and last year she began to also have tonic-clonic seizures. I have found her twice fitting in her bed and it has scared me big time! I have tried everywhere to get help to get a bed mat and had no luck so am currently in the process of purchasing one myself which is also becoming quite stressful. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated. claire

Debbie, thank you so very much for sharing your experience. Could you please tell me where we would get one of these mats and any other information about them you may have. I also lost a child and I totally empathize with your heart... Again thank you for shareing...
