I would recommend taking him to a neurologist and making sure they are just febrile seizures. My daughter started having them when she was 18 months old, and we thought they were just febrile. Come to find out, she's been diagnosed with complex partial epileptic seizures. She's now on a medication that controls them, Trileptal. She hasn't had any since she's been on it, but it took them so long to determine they weren't febrile. She has developed learning delays, and I wish I had known about her seizures sooner before she had so many. I was told by her neurologist that even though her seizures were triggered by illness, they were not febrile. Hope this helps

My daughter has febrile convulsions too, which started when she was about 10 months old. we were told to treat the fever and keep her cool - undressing her if she has a convulsion usually makes it stop. We were told that they don't usuallly give seizure medication for febrile convulsions - as the cause is the fever. However my daughter has also developed absence seizures and she is now on Epilim which keeps all her seizures under control - so no more convulsions when she has a fever (what a relief!). She recently had other seizures though (even while on medication) with no associated fever which the doctor thinks were brought on by stress. Some children are more prone to have a seizure, and having frequent febrile convulsions can be a sign of future seizures brought on by different factors.
