My daughter is 11 years old and has been living with seizures since the age of 2. With so many restrictions due to the seizures, does anyone have any fun summer time suggestions?

well ive got a 7yo who has has uncontrolled seizures since 7months,shes now photosensitive, hearing impaired, vision impaired and intellectually disabled too.youre right, there is limits on where u can go or what to do.ill share this with you.in my experience our kids are more sensitive to smell and touch, they like to go into a world where they can forget their condition for at least abit.i have 2 other girls,no problems at all, they get upset cause they miss out alot because of their sister.i found the perfect all round best day out,not only for my needy girl but the others too,i dont know if u live in victoria, theres an enchanted maze kingdom, they have a stimulation maze full of touch and smells, mostly covered, there is fairy land maze, other more harder ones for the other kids, but what is the most inspiring was they cater to needs for no reason than they want to,i got to go early and put extra smell and touch treasures through the maze to cater for my girl, she arrived and was in heaven, she touched smelt anything and everything, the fairy land was so detailed and adventure mazes espcially made for kids with motor skill issues,no matter what age.they had a lollypop making shop and the kids seen these giant 1mtre loolies being made, they can make your own too,old fashion candy store, and they have dietary stuff too for special diets to make candys.it was such an experience for my girl she was in magic land according to her, everything catered to her level and needs.i swear if you fiind another maze land like this go there,i even loved it,bbqs and picnic areas, only 9 bucks for whole day out.fantastic.not only that, they have boys ones too, even my 12yo was amazed.it suited us all.if u find one go if not keep lookin.nother tip, look under adventure parks for special needs,or even family retreat camps for weekends, there is more like this its just a matter of finding them.if u in vic go to arthurs seat enchanted maze.hope this helps wendy

hi i dont know if i can offer any help.. my son is 3 1/2yrs and has been having siezures since he was 11months... it is hard to let him go and do all the normal things that kids his age do... i hate watching him climba and bounce on trampolines and swim..... but i need to watch him and let him experience it....

im in australia and i do know that epilepsy action run camps once a year for families..... they have one for teenagers and one for younger kids.....

maybe you could look at your local eilepsy organisation, they may have something similar.....

goodluck
