I wanted to see if there was anyone in the group who's kid has had a hemispherectomy?

Joey has technically had 2 left hemispherectomies. The first one when he was 17 months old but they had to close him up before they got all the brain out because he started bleeding too much. Then he had his 2nd one Aug. 16, 2005. They cleaned out the entire left hemisphere and during the surgery .... he stroked in the right frontal lobe ... almost dying on the table!!! He still has seizures and he is now 10 years old. His seizures have never been controlled, unfortunately. We've been through most of the seizure drugs, 6 brain surgeries and a Vagal Nerve Stimulator inserted in his chest to help prevent and control seizures. Look at joeylora.com and you can see Joey's early years. Joey is amazing even though he is always fighting an uphill battle. He is in 3rd grade and capable of learning and reading!!
