Keppra question

My child did wonderfully on Keppra, but thats not to say the next person could have terrible problems, every person is different, and every body is going to react differently to different meds. My child was on Depakote years ago and turned into a crazed manic child, and my niece was on the same med and it worked perfectly for her.

Keppra is the only medication my daughter has taken for her seizures. It has worked wonderfully!! I went to the internet to look up all the side before I gave it to her. After reading everthing I wasn't sure I wanted to give it to her. I talked with a family friend who is a pharmacist. She said the only ones I might see would be the clumsiness and sleepiness. She was right she was a little clumsy at first but that has not been as clumsy recently. Hope Keppra works as well for your daughter as is does for mine!

My daughter has been on keppra since may 08. we now have had to add topamax to her regiment because the keppra at the dose she needs to control the seizures was giving us major behavioral issues. very cranky (she just turned 4) would break out in a screaming fit for no reason, hitting, mood swings at the right dose were very unbearable. so our nuro lowered her dose back down and added topamax since how we had some control with keppra just not enough. we think keppra is great, we dont have as many seizures. btw since we have lowered the dose she is back to normal..just a few (able to handle) break downs. good luck i hope it works well for your daughter.

Hi Kelsey! My daughter, Faith is 9 years old and she was put on Keppra last October and in January we took her off of it. It caused major behavioral issues and the mood swings were not bearable. From what I understand, even though it is prescribed in children the clinical trials of the drug was only done on adults. Did the doctor tell you to closely monitor for the side effects?

The Keppra has worked well for our 9 yo son. he has complex partial seizures.

Hi. My daughter, who is 4, has generalized epilepsy. We had her on Keppra for quite a while and she did not show signs of any of the side effects, however it did not really work for her. She continued to have seizures on a regular basis. We are starting medicine #5- and it has only been 1 year. I really hope the best for your daughter.

oh I forgot to say she is 4 1/2 and was on the Zonegran for 2 years , before that Dilantin and Phenobarbytal (sp) I had seizures when I was little and remember how traumatic it was to get my blood drawn every month so I am trying to avoid that with her if at all possible...... any info would be great!
