i actually have to keep oxygen in my house for when my 5 year old son has a seizure, how it was explained to me was that its because of where in the brain the seizure is happening. there are certain nerves and if the activity is next to those nerves then the dont respond as well causing the o2 saturation to be lower they can still get oxygen just not in the concentration the need. hopefully this helped a little

Breathing in his mouth probably dosent help but I dont think it hurts him. Have you told this to your doctor? 5 minutes is a long time! You may be able to get disability, depends on what they dignose him with. My daughter is on disability, among other things but, she has multiple problems besides just seizures. You may want to ask to see a Neurologist too. Hope this helps!

I'll ask about oxygen at home. I've been breathing in his mouth with each seizure, is this helpful or harmful?

Sometimes they "forget" to breath or cant during. If its a long going issue ask for oxygen at home. It helps.

Nick (14) typically has his lips turn blue, but a couple of weeks ago, he's whole head was blue. It scared the crap out of me. They just don't breathe well while having a seizure. They told me to make sure he takes deep breaths when he comes out of it, but if it got bad, to call 911

My son would turn blue during his seizures. Scariest thing that I have been through in my life. He started having seizures when he was a year and a half...he'd have them about every 6 weeks, a couple at a time. Even though we were in and out of hospitals we didn't get any answers really either. Very hard to feel like your son isn't going to start breathing again. He's 3 years and 5 months now and has been seizure free for a year. He's on Trileptil and Keppra. The Keppra is what stopped them finally. Thankfully.

Yes we have a 15 month old boy, Alex who has seizures and they last anywhere from 20-30 seconds. He turns blue with them. We have oxygen at the house and we put it on him immediately during a seizure and it really helps. Does your child have long seizures?
In my prayers...
