Hi I am a mother of a 16 yr old boy who no longer knows her own son he started having seizures month and half ago put on "Keppra" he had some anger and depression before the meds but now it's to the point of unbearable. I feel like I have to walk around on egg shells because I never know what will throw him into a RAGE ! We have tried the Vitamin B 6 but it seems to have no affect. I feel the pain for the other parents out there with a child on Keppra, If anyone has any info or suggestions please I would Love the Feedback ?

I am a nurse in a Neurology clinic and the anger is a side effect of the Keppra please call his doctor on monday as they can change him to a new medication that dose not have these side effects. Keppra can really change moods, and the doctor needs to know about this.

You should speak with your neurologist about a different anti-seizure medication. My 14 year old son has been taking Keppra 500 mg twice a day for the past 18 months and has done miraculously well on the medication. There are several different types of anti-seizure medications, you just have to find out which works best for your son. Unfortunately, the only way to do this is through trial and error. It may take awhile, but once you find the one that works, it becomes well worth the effort. Just try some different meds and you'll find the perfect med for your son soon!
