I thought i would share some of our wonderful news. Our daughter who will be 5 next week has just had 2 seizure free days in a row. This would be a first for at least a year! I am over the moon and couldn't help but share it with everyone!

Hi Jeanette, Eloise is on topomax, lamictal and nitrazopam. The side effects of nitrazopam have been terrible - nightime hallucinations that last hours, but this combination has been the best for controlling her seizures. We have tried keppra, clobozam, tegretol and epilim in the past.

My daughter is 14. She has been seizure free for 3 years. She just had a normal EEG and the doctor took her off Keppra. So far, no seizures! I pray they are right, because they had told us she would have them all her life and wouldn't even be able to drive. So this is a miracle!

Great feeling not having to see your child having seizures. I am new to this sight so I am wondering what kind of seizure medication you are useing. My daughter is on keppra for over 2 years now but now it is not controlling her seizures as well as I would like to see. Now it seems to upset her stomach and we have not been able to feed her by her gj tube for a little over a month.

Yay! Every day, or even hour, seizure free is worth cheering over. Hope it continues for your little one!

Thanks everyone xo

Deana, Eloise has tonic clonic, partial complex and absence seizures. She is taking topomax, lamictal and nitrazepam. She just came off clobozam. Eloise had 4 seizure free days and then came out with a different form of partial conmplex and had 9 seizures lasting 1-4 minutes in a 50 minute period at 4am last Sunday morning. It was really distressing to see another type of seizure. She had a seizure free birthday on Tuesday which was delightful. it is amazing how happy i get when we have a seizure free day.

Good luck with the medication roundabout. it is so hard to get off once you are on it. We have tried so many drugs. one day we will find the right ones. She has just come off clobozam which caused really impulsive behaviour (she is a much nicer little girl now!)

How old is our daughter? I hope everything works out for you xo

Congratulations and thanks for sharing!!! What kind of seizures does she usually have? I'm sorry to hear they are so frequent. My daughter just started having them, can I ask which meds she's taking? Sarah's taking Depakote and Valproic Acid and was still having Absence seizures. One of the meds are giving her terrible side effects and we are hoping to switch to something else! Again, congrat's I pray and hope it continues forever!!!!!! (That's the goal right?) hahaha ... Keep smiling!

Thank you so much for sharing some good news!!! In this adventure of motherhood some times we can really put a smile on someone's face who needs it by sharing good news. Epilepsy is such a peace thief and joy killer that good news sometimes seems like the only cure -- I am happy for you and thanks again for sharing... I am smiling.
