I know I'm a lot older than many of you and my child is older than most of your children...so I speak from experience. For those of you whose children are speech impaired, my advice is to get them into therapy young...waaaaay before they start school. My son started speech therapy at 18 months and I am thankful every day to the doctor who suggested it (and everyone from grandparents to my spouse gave me a hard time about it). Too many people don't start their children in speech therapy until they start school...if you do, there is a chance (depending upon the severity of their speech impairment...my son was totally nonverbal) they will never catch up and they will always be slightly behind the other children...they're already playing on an uneven playing field, speech therapy is one place where you can help them catch up...before they start school and the other kids make fun of them.

Yes I do know where you are coming from. Dylan was in therapy as a baby for other delays and then started recieving speech also about 18months. Yes I also agree with you about the younger they are with speech or therpy is better. My son is 10yrs old and it has made a difference. So yes get it the earliest you can. Phoebe just started speech last fall, but we will see how things go for her in the following years.
