anything is worth a shot to try and help them and you should ask about it.

this is new to me, my son has had 3 normal EEG's done and 1 sleep deprived. but from what I have read the video- telemetry is a pro-longed egg were my son will wear an ambulatory EEG at the same time as all his movements being record by a video camera. Then after the test the docs watch any seizures that he had and see if there was any changes in his brain waves patterns at the time of the seizure. they only seem to do this test if

1. It's not clear what type of seizure you have

2. You're anti epileptic drugs are not working well

3. There is a possibility that the seizures are not caused by epilepsy, but something els

4. You are considering having epilepsy surgery. I hope this helps you it is just what have read about after being told my son would be going in for it.

Nevermind :) I googled it and read about it. I'm wondering if this would be beneficial for her, since most of her episodes have been while she's sleeping. They are well controlled with meds though since she has very slow growth, at 5 she's only 32 lbs and less than 40 inches. I will be mentioning this to her neuro at our next visit though. Good luck to you!

Can you explain what this is? I'm curious. My daughter has had 2 EEG's that are normal, but still has had numerous seizures and is still on meds.

It depends on the individual unit. Some units allow the patient out of bed, and have telemetry so that you can go to the play room. We have been through several VEEGs in 2 different hospitals. I took lots of crafts, books, videos, etc. Take clothes that button down the front since you can't pull anything over his head. Use your imagination about toys and things to keep him occupied. Maybe buy some little dollar toys and wrap them up....giving him one every now and then will keep him happy. Good luck!

It helped my 7 yr old daughter to have her favorite toys and games with her. We also took some fav dvd's. The child life specialist also brings by some games and projects for the child. If you child likes to read, you can also take his fav books. It wasn't very stressful for my daughter but for the heavy bandage around her head which restricted head movement a little bit.

Yes, he can move about but must stay in the bed. My son played his video games the whole time. They may lightly restrain his wrists in case he has a seizure and they will pad the bed frame.
