My daughter is now 5 and has been having seizures since she was 3. The doctors just tell us that seizures can't hurt her and just to deal with it as it comes since they are infrequent. (Sometimes a couple in a month sometimes none for a couple months). She has had seizures where she passes out. What are these categorized as?? She recently had one on Friday at school where she "passed out" eyes rolling back in the head and immedietly vomited after coming out of it. She has also had seizures with the stiff body and jerking movements and absence seizures. Is this a common thing to have so many different looking seizures?? If anybody has any answers for me that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :-D

My son had what I call his "Episode" when he was first 8 months old. After a few hours of being asleep...He would start gasping really fast with short spurts of a short cry. His left arm was also completely limp, while his right arm was strong and bent up. He has now recently done it again a couple weeks ago. I told his pediatrician about it today and she ordered a EEG to be done. Do these sound like seizures?? she thought they were night terrors..but after reading over the pamphlet she gave me..it's not that at all. He remains asleep..eyes closed and impossible to wake up and normally last 3-10 min. It is really starting to scare me especially after this 2nd "episode"

MLee....that's scary that they are saying that seizures can't hurt her....Because sometimes they do have an effect on kids....If you go here this may help you and you can look up the different seizures.... http://www.epilepsyfoundation.org/aboute...

Not sure if it will help much, but it may....I know with my daughter's seizure last month on the 22nd it was almost like her seizure last dec where it looked like to me a grand mal, but her seizure last month about 2hrs after it she threw up and then 20mins after that she threw up again...they said from the seizure. Hang in there...I hope that this helps a little...My daughter has complex partial epilepsy into generalized seizures. I was told by a neurologist that does do stuff with epilepsy that absence seizures are in with complex partial seizures. Good luck and hope this helps...
