Fear of Public Bathrooms

My four yr old daughter has developed a fear of public bathrooms. She will go in and freeze up when its time to sit down and go.... it all started when an automatic flusher flished when she was still sitting and has since blossomed into an all-the-time thing.



I had to straddle the toilet to hug her/comfort her yesterday, just so she could go.



We are planning to go to Disney this summer, and I am hoping to help her overcome this fear before then. Any advice??

Have you tried using a cafe toilet instead of a public toilet. All i can suggest is be persistant try rewarding her when she does use a public toilet. Persistance and encouragement.



The other thing i found helps with my daughters fears is daddy takes her as she feels nothing can hurt her when shes with daddy i dont know if this is possily for you but it worked for me. my partner would take my daughter on the first few occasions then i would begin to take over.
