Why do you feel to Adopt?



From what country are you intending to Adopt from? All Depends first upon the agreements your Country has with the sending country.



Are you in America? Local Adoption form same country where you love?



Your first port of call would be if you pass all thats need to be sorted to be eligible to be Able to Adopt. Police check, Psych Checks, medical Checks, and so on, you house and family will be vetted as well, and what your intention would be to want to adopt etc.



China takes up to 5 years, and you must be married, Russia can take 2-3 yrs, etc, All depends first if you are actually approved to be able to, special needs child etc, siblings etc times can vary.

Jessica , Yes but one still has to be married nowadays since 2006 China, changed its Single parent Adoption status laws, to just married couples are allowed.



Yes follow your heart use your head, and you'll need to work and save extremely hard for the thousand it will cost, and all the hidden costs, but even then if you are not in a secure marriage wont work been single for china, or even some other countries, just their laws.



Also if you can have your own bio kids, then some countries prefer couples that don't and wu ill never be able to have children, as they will never have a chance to have children at all, and will be able to work with the children without distraction, or feelings to compete with bio kids.

Our China adoption was about $24 thousand. Not $30-$50! Maybe if you adopt 2 at one time!! Most countries I have seen charge some type of country fee, whether they call it a 'country fee' or 'orphanage donation' as China does. I will be honest, I am pro-special needs adoption. Only your family can decide what is best for you, but my best friend adopted her daughter with microtia (one ear is missing-we call it her little ear) and is currently in my 1st grade class...you would never ever, in a million years know that she was a special needs adoption!!! Not a single doctor visit required-top of our class! Our son has glaucoma of both eyes. He has some vision loss, but wears glasses and most people would never know. His glaucoma was operated on in China and a complete success! There are over 2000 kiddos waiting for families-that is only in China. Many, many more in other countries. Follow your heart and God's lead.

$30,000 -$50,000 that is total Adoption costs,, You also can wait form 2 -5 plus yrs to ADopt form there, have a single friend after 4 yrs still in the waiting game.
What is your reason you Adopt?

You don't say wether you are married or single, cannot be single and Adopt from China... That rule changed a couple yrs ago for China.
Also China expects quite a hefty amount, $5- $9000 just for the time a child has been in his or her
Orphanages, the reason being to pay back their
expenses.

So costs can be anything from $30- $50, 000.

Thank you very much Jessica , to tell you the truth i am only 25 but as i have Babysat for a mother who adopted from Africa , i know of her story of expenses and playing the waiting game .
My child is only 8 months at the moment and that is why i am enquiring now as i have nothing but time on my side , i figure the earlier i get on to it the better !!

HI Laureen-

It is a wonderful journey. We are about to bring home our son from China next month. I would have to say that yes, it is expensive. It is doable and their are grants and loan programs out there too. Fundraising ideas etc.

The wait depends on the country. We began through China's special needs program in March of 08, so our total will be a little over a year and a half. China's Non-special needs is looking at over a 4 yr wait and will probably get longer. You can also go to adoption.com and choose the different country forums to see about other countries. Maybe others with experience from other countries will chime in.
