Try the LeapFrog product called fridge phonics.. It's this thing you put on the fridge that your child puts a letter into. It then sings " 'R' says 'rrrrrr'. 'R' says 'rrrrrr'. Every letter makes a sound 'R' says 'rrrrr'." For letters that have two sounds, it would go like this " 'A' says 'a' and 'A' says 'ahhh' every letter makes a sound. 'A' says 'a' and 'ahh'." You can pick one up at Target, Wal-mart, or even at
It worked great for my son and the other kids I watch. Good luck!!

Each child is different. He is using his phonetics that will help him to be a faster speller I would bet. He will learn the sight of letters as they are taught in school. I would just keep saying the sounds and he will be that much farther ahead.
