Any pointers for starting to potty train?

My daughter is just over 30 months, but very interested in the bathroom and likes to sign to us when she is going in her diaper, so we figure we'd give it a shot. We're not really sure where to begin with a child who doesn't talk well yet...

Does she have a child sized potty? If you're going that route, now would be a good time to get it (some families just use the regular one.)
I had my kids sit on their potty with their clothes on and told them that when they were bigger their would use that to go potty instead of the diaper.

Remember that you child understands a lot more of what you say than they can speak back at you. We talk through everything in the day with our babies/toddlers..... couldn't shut them up when they got older, but that's part of the fun, too! :)
