hi my lil boy has down syndrome, hes only 1 and i havn't really had that much help, im a young mum and would love if anyone can give me some advice please, im at the stage of helpin him sit up on his own, and he can do it for a few minutes.

hi my sons nearly 6months and he is doing really well but im the same ive had no help professionally help at all just the pedrian who is useless to say the least, he is starting to roll over and trying to sit up by himself eating 3 solid meals a day and im really proud of him already but all i know about downs syndrome refers to adults (i worked with adults with learning disabilites including ds) i have no experience with children so its all new to me, is there any support organisations that i could get in contact with?

Welcome to the group!! My son is now 3 yrs old. Do you get early on services through the school district? If not, you should really contact your local school. We started getting services when my son was 3 mths old and he will be moving into a special ed classroom on Monday. He is a bit further behind than even an average kid with DS is, but slowly he is progressing. Have you tried the boppie to help him sit? Put him in center of it and that will give him more support.
