my daughter is 30 months now and she didn't speak yet , she's trying to speak and said few words like baba or mama , do i have to give her speech lessons or what can i do ??
and am i too late ??

I definitely would suggest speech. My little girl will be 3yrs old in 2 months. I've been taking her to speech for over a year now and she is doing GREAT! God has sure blessed her.

My son is 4 1/2 yrs old and still says few words! Lately it does seem that he is on the verge of starting to speak though! He has been receiving speech therapy since he was only a few months old and has always been a very vocal little guy so I have never feared he wouldn't speak! Have you been teaching your daughter sign language? I was initially afraid to have my son use sign as I feared it my slow his desire to speak but I was assured it in no way slows their speech but does provide them with a method of telling you what they want or need which in turn will decrease their frustration level! =-)

BTW our therapist said the best thing we could do to help our daughter talk was to talk to her about everything so that she can see how we move our tongues. We don't think about it, but it takes a LOT of skilled tongue movement to make the sounds that we use to make words......that's often why kids with DS talk later. Their low muscle tone makes it harder for them to manipulate their tongues. Talking and talking to her will give her a good example!

It probably wouldn't hurt for her doctor to refer her to some sort of speech therapy but I think that she WILL talk when she is ready to.
