Working full-time with an adolescent Aspergers' kid? Or, choosing NOT to work full-time?

Does anyone work full-time with Aspergers kid at home? (And, specifically, if you work is your kid in a daycare scenario.)

Or, do you choose not to work full-time because you have an (adolescent or pre-adolescent) Aspergers kid? We are starting to struggle financially but I hold back from getting a full-time job because I fear the effects of his being in daycare (or teen center) after school 5 days a week (til 6pm). Also, he has little tolerance for homework and know that after this kind of day, he will find it very difficult to do any at all.

Any experiences that any can extend will be appreciated!

Thanks, Beth, for responding. I feel a real tug of war between needing to work more (financially) and leaving him in these daycare situations. Also, my field of study (interior design) does not easily translate into this kind of part time work - at least at my level. But am still trying to figure it out.Thx again.

Yes I have and still have this problem. I did go to work for the school by working in the school cafeteria. That way I was home when my child was home and had the same days off. Now that he has graduated from H.S. I still work in cafeteria as a Manager and LOVE having my summers off and still get paid. It works out great for us.
