Hi,

I am 32 weeks pregnant with my 2nd boy. We were told after a 3d/4d ultrasound, that he was presenting with a Cleft lip and that the hard palate is somewhat involved..... both on the right side. I know that the right side is less common, but why? Does this mean anything? about the severity?

Does anyone have any experience with this?



They are saying that everything else looks good but they are giving us such little information about the severity. It's all so scary. I know he will be OK, we will love him and do whatever we possible can for him. The waiting is killing me. I feel so helpless!

I have never heard anything about it being more severe if it is just on the right side. My son was a bilateral cleft lip and palate. We have been through a couple of surgeries and starting to prepare for the next one. I know the feeling of the fear. I was very afraid when we had our ultrasound and found out that he was a cleft. The advantage that I had was that my sister in law was also a cleft so I didn't have to go into it completely blind. I will admit that it has been rough because of all that my son has had to go through but he is the greatest kid ever. I wish you the best of luck with everything and remember that everything they have to go through just makes them stronger and greater kids.
