We found out about Vilijos cleft inutero as well, it was during an ultrasound done at 19 weeks that it was discovered.  Met with the cleft team of Pittsburgh when I was around 8 months along.
Cool way to come up with a name.  :)
I was a member of Cleft Advocate, off and on, for a short while.  Perhaps that's the site?

Vada actually came off a list of baby names, my husband is an avid VolkWagen fan and wanted her name to start with a V because our last name is Walker, and now her intials are VW:) I told him only if I found a name I liked:) So Vada it is! She was also born with a very wide cleft lip/palate, the plastic surgeon was actually shocked by his work, figuring he would have to go at it a second time at least on the lip/nose.  But it looks better all the time, Her scar is still pink but gets lighter all the time. I know that is normal as I have scars on my hips from being born with congenital hip disorder and my scars didnt turn silver until at least age 11/12 or so and my first surgery was at 3. I cannot believe how many surgeries some of these babies need! I just thank God that Vada is a very lucky little girl:) I had my first consult at Children's Hospital in Seattle before she was born, we found out that she would be born with a cleft at my first ultrasound.  So I am thankful we could do so much research beforehand.  Your daughter is beautiful as well, I think I have seen her on another cleft site I found about a year or so ago?  Cant remember which one but I know I have seen your name before? Have a great day! Maria

Hi there!  Vada is a doll.  :)  Love that little face.  Her nose looks perfect to me.  ;)  My daughter Vilija was also born with a very wide unilateral cleft lip/palate, she's now almost 7 years old (will turn 7 in June).  Her next surgery will be the bone graft at age 8, she's already endured 7 surgeries by the age of 5, with the 8th being strictly a tubes procedure last Christmas.

Glad you found us.  :)

... did you name your daughter after the character in My Girl?  I love it.  (It's sort of close to mine, LOL.  Mine is Lithuanian, pronounced with a short i sound.)

Vada was born with a severe unilateral cleft lip and palate, she went through the lip/nose surgery at 5 months and the palate surgery at 1yr.  She will have another palate surgery in the next few months (the first one did not close her palate all the way unfortunately), and then she will hopefully  just have gum grafting at 7/8 and orthodontics with possible plastic surgery to perfect her nose sometime after she has stopped growing.  I love to talk about all the things we went through from finding out she would be born with cleft lip/palate to everything we have gone through up to now.  If I can help someone who needs some answers I would love to talk to you. And I love seeing pics of other children, they are SO beautiful! Hope everyone is having a wonderful day! Maria
