Hello! My daughter is 6 and has been diagnosed with spina bifida occulta. We have had the MRI and are waiting to see the neurosurgeon. I was just wandering if any one out there is familar with this...Any comments would help

Hi, my eleven year old daughter has occulta as well and she had a tethered cord release in march of 2010. if you ever would like to chat i would be happy to help.\\tracy

My son is 14 and has meningocele. He had no opening but his spine is open from L1 to L4 and it has skin and tissue covering it. We have always went to Shriners Hospitals for Children. THey deal with children who have neural tube defects and most have a spina bifida clinic. Spina Bifida Occulta is the mildest case of spina bifida and most children have no major problems. You can call Shriners and go through an application process and their motto is " The Best Care Money Can't Buy" All of their services are free. We have had great success with them.

Hi, my son has spina bifida, mininomeniocile( spelt wrong i know) Ian has hydrophlus( again spelt wrong) Ina has a great neurosurgeon; he did his back closure and both his shunt replacements. some are really nice and know what they are doing, thank God for these specialists. there is so much more medically they can do for our kids now then 10 years ago.
