I have a 15 month old boy who isn't talking yet but his older brother who is 3 started talking around 9 or 10 months and by the age of 1 1/2 he was saying complete sentences. I try everything to get my 15 month old to talk but he won't. He can say some names but thats it. He is real smart and can do everything that other one year olds do but the non-talking is irritating and disappointing. What can I do to get him to talk more?

Hi there, I have personally been in your shoes. If I could make a suggestion, I would inform your pediatrician and you can have your child evaluated by Help Me Grow, I believe they are everywhere. They will come to your house and evalute your child and determine if there should be any early intervention that needs to be taken. They can also recommend a therapist coming to your home or you taking your child to a therapist. Is your child talking but its mostly jargon? or is he hardly even making any type of communication?

My son is 14-months, and still not talking. He says consonant words like baba, dada, mama, gabba (for you gabba gabba), but the only "real" words he says are hi and bye. He is my first child so I'm not sure what to expect out or a child's development because it seems as they get older, the range for 'normal' is more broad. My son doesn't seem to understand many directions either. He just started grabbing me his diapers for me when I ask. Is your son doing such things? If so, when did he start?

I've looked into early intervention for my son, so he can be evaluated. I would also mention your concerns to your child's pediatrician to see if they are able to notice anything. Otherwise, the more exposure your son gets to talking/socializing with others, the more he'll learn. That's what most books and people have told me. Good luck :)
