Hair brushing blues

My 2 yo has a lot of fine hair (thanks hubby). It tangles so easy and she absolutely hates having her hair brushed. It is a fight everyday with lots of screaming and crying, some of it hers. I have a lot of thick, coarse hair and have never had a problem like this with my own hair so I don't have a clue how to deal with this. I remember my mom using detangler on my hair so I did buy some and use it on my daughter but it doesn't always do the trick. I also bought Suave Kids smoothing shampoo with conditioner to see if that helps alleviate the problem but it only helps the first day after she washes her hair. Any suggestions would be wonderful. I hate having to upset her so much every morning.

I have this problem still and my girl is 4 now. I have to do a few things but trust that this works. i first let her have a turn at her own hair... you'd be suprised how much they will withstand when they do it themselves, she always gets the sides pretty good and untangled. detangler actually makes Ava's hair worse for some reason SO I started dabbing just a little bit of regular conditioner (mine) and running my fingers through her wet hair. then i use a paddle brush with wide bristles. If it's dry and tangled i put a dab and I mean pea sized dab of shine serum stuff on her hair, it puts just enough oil in it that the brush goes right through. the comb is torture. :0)

my oldest used to the same until 1 day i thort i'd blow dry her hair n slip the brush through her with lots ov detangling spray, now she loves it as soon as she gets out the bath she will sit in my room n wait 4 me to come n make her look like a true princess!!!!!!!

I give my daughter her own little brush... and while i brush her hair she tries to help and its less of a struggle cuz she gets to help

also my mom told me that if you have a doll who's hair she can brush while you brush her hair she may not fight as much cuz she has her own babies hair to brush

hold the top of hair and comb ends first gently. also brush hair before u wash it if the tangles are removed before hair is wet their shouldn't be many tangles after hair is wet.

Try giving her something she really likes to hold in her hands while you brush her hair. I've noticed that this works with my daughter sometimes. If she's distracted, maybe she won't think about her tangles so much. I also have noticed that my daughter screams more when I brush her hair. I wonder if she'll scream less if someone else brushes it. She may be playing you like my daughter does. Sometimes they feel entitled cuz you're the mommy.

My daughter has very thick hair and it's always knotted under neath.  try using a separate conditioner also and pulling it back in a pony tail or braid at night, a wider tooth brush works better then the soft.  Good luck!

Try letting her brush your hair and then you brush her's. It works for my baby. She is almost 2.
