Hi, I have a lil princess who is 7 months old and since she was born everyone has said that she should be on commercials, or the gerber baby, etc... At first I didn't really think anything of it but recently people have been seriously asking me about entering her in contests! My question is what age do you feel is appropriate for modeling and contests?! Also those who have entered there children in contests, what is the best way to go about doing it and where?! Any advice would be wonderful, thanks!!

My daughter is 3, almost 4. She has been competing in numerous natural beauty pageants since 16 months and has held many state and international titles. We have not officially gotten into modeling but have met many people who are. The advice i have got so far is to start a small portfolio and to look up local agencies and simply send or if your able bring in your portfolio.I haven't done it but... There is a talent scouting agency called National Talent Network.. (I think) .They have deals with Gap, American Girl, Parents,American Baby and several others. My daughter has been scouted out by them but i have not gone through the process of anything. We want to make sure we REALLY want to do it before we start. It is very time consuming and requires a lot of traveling and we have a 4 month old boy. I would start her in pageants (if your comfortable). That way she will become used to being around different people and the hustle of it( im sure its not nearly as crazy as a photo shoot or runway modeling). There are many types of pageants just find one that fits you and your daughter. We do not enter anything that requires swim, big/pageant hair or makeup.

Parents.com (parents magazine) has monthly winners for a baby and modeling search. February 2011 they will pick one baby from the monthly winners to be the grand prize winner. The prize is a year long modeling contract with Ford Models. :) You should check it out!

People have said the same about my kids but I don't have a clue where to start. There are so many scams out there, it makes me nervous.

I've been told the same. But my sister-in-law had her oldest daughter model at the very young age. She even had a pic in parenting magazine. The money is good but its time consuming. You have to be available for the whole day of shooting. If i remember correctly. I am more for modeling than i am pageants.
