my daughter was born nov 4th by emergency c-section.

my ob sent me for a growth ultrasound at 32 weeks, said she was tiny and he wanted another, so at 34 weeks i had another one and it showed she did not grow what so ever from 32-34 weeks. he told me to go to the hospital i had Placenta Insufficiency and that i would be delivering that day, or in 2 week, he wanted to hold off till i was 36 weeks, by the time i got to the hospital ( a 10 minute drive) my ob had called the big childrens hospital who told him the baby needed to be out as slowed blood flow and nutrients are not good and she can get brain damage.

so at 108pm my daughter was born weighing 4.5lbs and 18.7 inches long.. the first time i seen her in the nicu was horrible it was hard to see her through all the tubes and wires and cpap breathing machine! at 2 days old she was diagnosed with a PDA and 3 months she was diagnosed at Toronto Sick Kids with failure to thrive and ngtube was placed, at 7 (wont take a bottle or sippy cup) so her next surgery is for a G-Tube sept 10th

thank you lindsey,
i am now sadly back to work, but because i make almost 18hr i can afford to do just 2 shifts a week. so im only gone for 16 hours.

abigail got her gtube in september and the past week her liquids have really picked up, she has a special dora sraw sippy cup and tonight for the very first time in her life she took 19oz homo milk and 3oz of juice, so as soon as she is at 24oz fluid intake i am going to try weaning her from the tube.

how is your Abby doing??

Abby is my 3rd child. I have two boys. Mason is 5 and Caiden is 3. Abby was 2 lb 12 oz 15 in at birth and was in the hospital for 8 1/2 weeks.
I give you so much praise for being so strong for your daughter. I'm so happy to hear that despite everything she's had to go through, she's still a happy, ADORABLE baby.
Are you in Canada? I'm in NY and here we have an organization called Children's Miracle Network and they offer a wide range of support services to families of children with illness, disability, etc... I guess I was suggesting seeing what was out there before you go back to work. I'm stay at home now too, but at the cost of daycare it wouldn't be worth it to go to work. I plan on it by spring.

your abby is so beautiful!! she is just absolutely stunning!!
i am glad to hear her development check up was good news and she is ahead!! i think preemie babies are the strongest babies,children and adults around. was she your first baby? im glad she didnt have any lasting medical issues!!!

my daughter is doing good, thanks for being force fed by her ng tube she is 18lbs and 27 inches long and full of rolls!! she is my first baby and brought quite a scare these past 9 in a half months lol she is doing good in her development although we have many people coming to the house to see her.. we see a occupational therapist, speech therapist, 2 nurses, as well as a dietitian and she is awaiting a appt to get into a program designed for kids like her( severe disability with eating) and we are currently seeing a feeding clinic at a local childrens hospital

through all this i am suppose to go back to work in oct and i am un sure of how i am going to do it, i cant get child care for her because of needing to be fed through a tube..ughhh so stressful.

how big was your Abby when she was born? was she in the hospital long?

Hi Kayla! and welcome! I've tried getting this community more attention, but I havent been able to get that many members so it's nice hearing a new story on here.
First of all, your daughter is beautiful! I love her name *wink*! I'm so thankful that my daughter never had any lasting medical issues and never had to have any surgeries so I can't imagine what you've been through and are continuing to go through. I hope your Abby's surgery goes well and the gtube helps her. I'm guessing she's still teeny tiny? Was she your first baby?
My Abby is now 9 mos (6 1/2 adjusted). We just had her development check up and she's ahead. Her most recent measurements are 12lb 4oz 23.5in. Shes doing really good.
Keep us updated on your little one! (:
