6 Month old won't eat.

My son was born at 32 weeks and spent an extra 2 weeks in the hospital because he refused to eat. He is now 6 months old and has had problems eating since he was born. He was starting to get better when we put him on Baby's 1st Foods, but now he doesn't want the food or the formula. He has to stay on Neosure for another three months, and Neosure is disgusting. I put Karo syrup in his bottle to help sweeten it some. He drinks his bottle first thing in the morning and late at night, but doesn't want to eat anything throughout the day. He is still putting on weightt and isn't dehydrated. I am still getting planty of wet and dirty diapers, but he is really starting to worry me. He went through a phase when all he wanted was baby food, but now he doesn't want anything. I have to be careful with what I give him because he was born premature, but right now, I'd be willing to try just about anything. Please help!!!

My son was born at 35 weeks, spent 1 week in the hospital for feeding and respiratory issues. And my daughter was born at 33 weeks, spent 4 weeks in the hospital for feeding, respiratory and heart issues. Both of my kids had severe reflux (GERD) and wouldn't eat, just scream. I had to have both of my kids see a Pediatric GI Dr to help with their eating and weight gain. My youngest, she had the hardest problems with the weight gain. They both had to be put on medication to help with their acid so they could tolerate feedings. It is just a suggestion. But if he isn't acting uncomfortable after his feedings, then I am not sure. He may just have an aversion to his bottles or the spoon. My daughter ate for 2-3 weeks before she developed an aversion to the spoon then refused all baby food feedings for months, she was 9 months before she finally started taking 1/2 jar of baby food a day. She now eats great (she's 16 months), but is still on her reflux medications and her weight is still low (18 lbs). My son was weaned off the medicine by the time he was 20 months old, but my daughter has been more severe and they suspect she will be on the medicine until she is 3 or older.



I hope you are able to figure it out. I know how scary it can be when your child refuses to eat. Did he stop eating after an attempt with a new flavor??? With my kids the gerber cereals made their bellies hurt, both the oatmeal and the rice. So I made cream of rice and some cream of wheat for them. It takes longer to prepare, but the extra few minutes of cooking on the stove made the difference of them eating or not eating. I mixed a little puree peaches or pears in for flavor.
