My water broke at 23 wks, and I was in the hospital for 6 wks until they had to deliver my baby girl at 29 wks. I was just wondering how long it was for all the other special people with premmies...

My water broke at 25 weeks. I was in the hospital until 27 weeks when my son was delivered. He was 2.9lbs. He came out breathing on his own thankfully. He is now 12 and has no dev problems. He does have ADHD, but I thank god every day for how healthy he is.

My water broke at 23 weeks because of a placental abruption. I was hospitalized for five weeks on complete bed rest. My baby girl was born at 28 weeks and 3 days. We spent 11 weeks in the NICU.

She is a well adjusted kindergarden kid today.

My water broke with a gush (and kept gushing!) while I was sleeping at 3:00 am.

After a hospital transfer, a shot of steroids and IV antibiotics, a biophysical profile score of 0/8 and fetal distress, my son was born by emergency c section at 10:45 am. So, 7 hrs 45 min.

That said, a woman who was admitted the same day as me was able to hold on for another 6 weeks.

When mine broke with my daughter labor started immediately (31 weeks), Doctor`s tried to slow it down, but I delivered her within 20 hours of my water breaking, and it was around 6 hours of labor. With my son (33 weeks) my water broke and he was born within 4 hours, fast! I was on bedrest prior to having both my kids and did not have leaking membranes, they just seem to break and labor starts immediately after. Now my kids are happy and healthy 7 and 2 year olds and they still are in a rush to do everything :)

My water broke with my daughter at 35+0 weeks. I was 4cm dilated and 75% effaced so they gave me pitocin to progress labor (their hospital policy is to not stop labor if you are at least 35 weeks).

With my son, I was 30+2 when my water broke and 31+0 when labor started, so 5 days.

my water didnt break...until moments before i had my daughter..i was about 3cm dilated at 3 months so i was in the hospital on a stinky iv for quite awhile. the day i made it to 6 months they changed my iv and told me we were having a baby...within 13 hours they were rolling my daughter straight down to the nicu..about 8 hours later i got to see how tiny she was..and 4 weeks later i got to hold her...it was all crazy but now i know it was all worth it.

My water also broke at 23 weeks and I was on bed rest in the Hospital for almost 4 weeks and then my cord prolapsed so I had an emergency c-section at 27 weeks gestation. My daughter was in the NICU for 80 days and now is a thriving 19 month old that is almsot completely caught up to her adjusted age.
When my water broke so early I didn't realize there was anything that could be done. I am so amazed at the miracles that they can do now...

My water broke and I had a c-section within 2 hours. My daughter was very low on amniotic fluid and was in danger. She was also in the hospital for 41 days due to failure to thrive. She's doing great now though :) They needed her to be born quickly so she wouldn't be in distress. She had a 2 vessel cord.

my water broke at 24 weeks estimated, and i delivered at 27 weeks again estimated. what i mean by estimated is after my son was born his gestational age for size and development was (again) estimated to be closer to 32 weeks. when my son was 28 hrs old we found out he had an infection, he had contracted ECOLI somehow. the nicu staff said its really rare for the baby to get the infection before the mom. we think he caught it while he was being delivered since it was in the placenta, umblical cord, and him but not in me. due to the infection he had almost every problem a 24 weeker has. including a grade 2 bleed in his brain. amazingly he came home on his due date so his nicu stay was 3 months. he does have cerebral palsy and some other problems but thats ok with us he is perfect. as for catching up he has done that he weighed 2lbs 7oz and ws 14 and 1/2 inches long well now at age 8 he is 63 lbs and stands 4ft tall. he is my miricle since i wasnt supposed to have any kids, at all he was my fourth pregnancy the first three ended in first trymester misscarrages.

My water broke on the exact day I turned 29 weeks (on a Sunday) and he was born 2 days later. I woke up the morning and planted my feet on the ground and splash. I didn't know what it was. I thought I was urinating on myself. I went to the bathroom, got up, there it went again. I put on a pad and continued to make breakfast, then lunch and dinner. I was naive to what amniotic fluid looked like. I thought it would have blood in it. I didn't go to the hospital until 9 pm. At that time they checked and said my fluid was low and I would be on bedrest for the remainder of my pregnancy.

I nearly lost it. I had so much to do. Two days later, he came.

My water broke on Monday and I had her the following Sunday at 30wks6days. I was in the hospital the whole time, being pumped full of every kind of medication they could think of.. I don't know how you moms made it longer than that! I had crazy contractions the whole time- it was the most awful 6 days of my life!
Thankfully Zoe was only in the NICU 3 weeks before she came home!
For the moms who went 1+week in the hospital, what meds were you given?

Hi
Similar story to a lot of other people. We are the lucky ones I think.
my water broke at 28 weeks and the OB said that I would most likely go into labour in the next 24-48 hours.
I stayed in hospital 2 weeks and went into labour at 30 weeks. They would have let me go to 32 weeks.
I think the percentages are something like 90% chance of going into labour within 24-48 hrs of your waters breaking.

I knew I would have problems from the outset as I had 3 prems already, 22w, 34w and 31w. I was on bedrest from 21w not knowing if I would make it to 24w as mt cervix was .4ml thick...not a lot huh?. I was hospitalised at 23w with a minor leak, then bang on 26w they fully broke. The next day her cord fell out and i had emergency c section. Born 1p7o, now 16 months on is 9.3kg and is a joy!

My water broke at 6am on Jan 2nd, when I was 28 weeks and 1 day. Initially the plan was for me to go on hospital bed rest and try to last as long as possible. I had the steroid shots for 48 hours and was planning for the long haul.

Unfortunately, I had lost so much amniotic fluid that there was no longer a cushion around the baby's cord and she was bumping into it frequently, causing massive drops in her heart rate. After 24 hours of continuous foetal monitoring, they decided to give me a c-section with 30 minutes notice, because of the risk that the baby could bump into the cord and do catastrophic damage to it at any time.

I therefore only managed to go 3 days and she was born January 5th. :( Not for lack of trying!

I went into labour at 26 weeks i stayed bed bound in hospital till 27+4 and had a masive bleed so they did emeg c my baby girl was 2pound 2 oz and perfect. She stayed in hospital till nearly her due date and came home on oxgen. She is now 19 months or 15 months correct and part from being small she is an active little girl that runs around and has no problems from being a prem. I had alot of dark moments in icu when i wish this nightmare would be over because i was scared that she wouldnt come home with me but when i look back now im glad in a way because its made me relise just how amazing life is and even when the odds are against you the will to live is a powerfull thing.

my water never broke, my placenta started to detach at 22 weeks. it would throw me into active labor, then stop out of no where. i was in the hospital, not even allowed to lift a leg because everytime i would move ANYTHING my placenta would come off more....throw me into active labor then stop. i stayed on mag the whole time (which seriously sucks, and made my son lethargic when he was born) until my placenta completely came off at 30 wks. did an emergency c-section, got him out in 45 seconds (yah, 45 seconds. it was a new hospital "record"). come to find out that the ONLY peice of the placenta that didnt detach was where his umbilicle cord was. he didnt go into any distress, lose any oxygen, nothing. he is a true miracle. NICU for 8 weeks.

Wow, Im kind of jealous of most of you!! Woke up at 5:30 feeling a few contractions and didnt think much of it because I felt them before and they werent too bad. But they started getting worse & my water broke around 6:30, so we got to the ER around 7, and had my daughter at 8:17am. There wasnt really anything the doctor could do, he came into the room, took a look, then I think he wanted to do an ultrasound or something, cant really remember that part, too much pain and absolutely no pain killers at all, I refused everything. By the time they brought the machine into the room, she was already on her way out. Poor doctor didnt get a chance to change out of his nice clothes into scrubs!! Afterwards I felt bad about that, I think might have ruined some of his clothes, lol!! But everything happened so quick, and no one was expecting it, we all though it was fake labor, untill my water broke. Then I knew it was serious. But they guessed she was about 33 weeks, and she was a breech birth. Scariest moment of my life, but in the end it all turned out great. She got to stay at the local hospital, which they said is unusual because they dont have as good of a NICU as others around here and they usually have to transport the Preemies to a bigger one, and she was only in about 3 weeks. Which were the longest 3 weeks, but like I said, it was worth it, shes an amazing healthy little girl now, and almost 1 year old. Still on the smaller side of the scale, but that's okay, as long as shes still healthy.

My son was born at 29weeks and 5 days, I had mild labor pains the night befor but i figured i had a doctors appt the next day i the morning so what could it hurts to wait till then. Well i went and they said they couldn't check me cause just that quickly the pain had progressed to where i was crying some. Well they told me to wait 2 hours and then go if it didn't stop, so we went home(me and my husband) I took a nap and then i felt alright when i woke up in the bed but as soon as i started walking around the house the pain came right back, and I didn't know it was labor right away cause my water didn't break. So we went to the hospital and they said in the emergency room that i was only 2 centameters dialated, and so they sent me to triage to monotor me and all I was still having the pains but it wasn't picking it up on they monotor and just as they checked me one last time befor leaving they said i was 7 cm dialated. And then not even 4 hours later I was having to push. I couldn't hold him for a week and it sucked but he is now over a good 30lbs and walking and doing great. :-)
