My 19 month old is starting to wake up in the middle of the night and want to sleep with us in the chair. He has never been one to be cuddled or rocked to sleep he always went to bed with no real problem. I am stumped.

Best advice I ever read, I think by Dr. Sear's. Do whatever you need to, for your entore family to get the most amount of sleep. Don't put your self or your child in the can and can not do boxes. If he waked up in the middle of the night and he and you can go back to sleep if he sleeps with you, do it. Some people are dead against this, or maybe you sleep next to him in his room. Both my husband and I had queen size beds before we were married, so we just used those as our kids beds when they were out of the crib. Still comes in handy on tought nights, it's nice to just lay next to them for a few mins while they go back to sleep.

He has been teething almost non stop since he was 8 months old, so it could be his 2 yr molars moving around we already know they are in. Its teeth or maybe he is starting to know that he is dreaming. Thanks for the suggestions

i think this is normal cause it seems like everyone ive talked to starts to experience this the closer to two they get and i dont know why, for us we just kept our bed time routine and we dont go into jennas room unless it really sounds like there is something wrong or if she wont go back to sleep after maybe 10 mins, alot of moms on here have suggested giving the child bananas or milk or cereal or something before bed to help them sleep or ward off growing pains, some moms lay with their child or pat them back to sleep every night and some let their kids sleep with them, so i guess its really just what you want to do. why do you think hes waking up? could he be teething?
