ugh, yes. last year (age 8) she was on 6 different antibiotics over the course of 5 months and we had a nightmare of a year afterwards. she lost a lot of weight, had constant stomach pain, and was beginning to feel the psychological effects of "im a sick kid" from it. i never thought we would get past it.

our problems were all intestinal/bowel related and started shortly after all antibiotics were stopped:
she lost her appetite drastically the first month or so
then she developed stomach pains, burning stomach, and lots and lots of gas pain that lasted almost the rest of the year.
3 months after, she was constipated at all times. diet would not resolve it. initially miralax and other fiber type products wouldnt either. after some suppositories, it became manageble with fiber type products twice a day with a good diet.
Her bms were so large and painful, that she eventually developed anal fissures that bled. of course, seeing blood in the toilet for any reason along with bm, is a trip to the er for me.
thankfully it was from the skin, not from inside.
FINALLY we talked to a dr who turned us on to FLORISTOR. a powdered pre-biotic for kids that ANY kid could take everyday. (for anyone not familiar, it's like the stuff in yogurt. it helps replace the GOOD bacteria found in your stomach and intestines that antibiotics KILL on accident. itd be good for everyone, but ESPECIALLY people on antibiotics.)

that's why she was in pain and had such tummy trouble. all she had in there was BAD bacteria, if anything. and it was making her just sick.

it's expensive, but it worked.

however, it is slow going. even after we started floristor, she had REBOUND diarrhea for 2 months after. she was trying to avoid eating just so she wouldnt have to deal with all this drama with the toilet!

it finally calmed down, she got regular, and i never took her off the floristor. but now only once a day or at the least 5 days a week. she's happy, healthy, and poops like clockwork every day.

but i now know crazy dangers of antibiotics i had never heard before.

ps- she was CONSTANTLY sick with chest/head/flu stuff from pre-k to 2nd grade. we moved, and transferred her to a different school and she didnt get sick for a year with anything like that.
turns out she wasnt getting colds, etc. she has severe allergies to cats, dust, etc. maybe look into that?

I have a baby who takes AXID for acid reflux, but have never had much if any issues. In fact he he knows it is part of his morning routine and last sippie routine so he gets excited and takes meds very well.
