My daughter is almost 5 months old, 2 month corrected, she was born at 29 wks... she spent 6 wks in the hospital before we could bring her home. Once we broght her home for 3 wks all she did was eat and sleep. then the crying started, and It hasn't stoped... I have learned lots of tricks to help, but I was just wondering how everyone deals with it... thanks in advance if the advise.

We also had a coliky baby for the first six months. Turns out he had reflux and a milk soy protein intolerance. Once we put him on a restricted diet and meds for the reflux, it was like somebody flipped a switch... totally different kid. I also recommend reading The Happiest Baby on the block. I can empathize with anyone who has to go through that... it is really hard. It does get better though! Enlist some help from your family and friends if you can!

My daughter cried for 7 nights and 7 days non stop! The only thing that would calm her was to lay her on my lap on a pillow and lightly bounce her in a very quiet room with dim lighting. My husband was training in the field and all of my family lives hours away so I was on my own. It was very difficult at times but when I thought I was gonna scream I would lay her in her crib on her side and step outside for a few minutes. That is the only thing that kept my sanity!! Good Luck!

By adding gas drops into my son's formula each and every bottle, I tend to keep the colic at bay. As well, my research on colic says that many colicky babies have reflux, and 70% of preemies have reflux, so it stands to reason that your child may be refluxing (even silent reflux, where you don't see it but it's bothering her down near the stomach spincter). I would ask the doctor to do a test to rule out reflux ... my son has it pretty severe (3 meds for it and riced cereal) but it is controlled well now. Of course, it took a pediatric gastronenterologist to get things fixed ... you may simply wish to rule this out.

Oh yes my son had colic and it was horrible. Every night from 7 to 10 it was non stop. I just had to hold him in a recliner, on his belly, and rock him up and down on top of me until he fell asleep. It sounds weird but it helped a lot. Mylicon drops were a godsend but they didn't take all of the pain away. Good luck.

Have you talked to your doctor? My daughter was a little bit earlier than yours and when we can home she was doing fine too, then all of a sudden crying. We had to switch formulas and after trying about 6 found the right one Alumentin. Also we used Gripe Water by Baby Bliss over the counter drops that truely helped!!
