baby at 36 weeks...did you have a NICU stay?

My daughter was born at 36 weeks. She was born 6 days ago and we are still in the hospital hoping to be released tomorrow. She had to be put on oxygen for 2 days and then IV fluids. She developed jaundice and has been on the bill lights for 48 hours now. Avoid it if you can. The NICU nurses were wonderful but it has been the hardest thing to go through. Not being able to take care of your baby. I have been through the lowest of lows this week. When she was born I barely saw her before she was taken to the NICU

Yes my baby was in intensive care for 1 week and then 3 weeks in hospital.
My daughter was born 9 weeks premmie, weighed 3 pounds & 11 ounces, stayed in hospital 4 weeks, she had many challenges. She was not able to walk un-assisted, she needed support to sit up, drooled constantly, developmentally delayed, frequent body tremors, some seizure like episodes, kind of in a daze all the time, clenched left hand, choking on her food, speach problems, left side weakness etc. She was elevated on her toes when holding her to walk, she was splinted for a leg brace & they wanted to give her botox, but after researching botox and discovering how it’s made and there were no long term studies I decided against it. Her life was restricted & so was mine ...and it looked this way for the rest of her life ... & mine. I felt hopeless.

We were attending all sorts of treatments and therapies which cost a lot. A friend told me about some special wellness supplements from a particular company, she started taking them in her yogurt, after one week she was up walking un-assisted, it made an immense difference to her brain function, memory, balance, mood & cognition in a short space of time. She began to thrive. I was elated!

I am so grateful to the person that told me about this incredible technology. She now has a life now ….. and so do I. It’s now over 14 yrs later and she continues to take these special nutrients, she has attended normal public schools, she is almost 16, in a few weeks she begins driving lessons and has just started an after school casual job in a fast paced food takeaway. Now she is taller than me.

I just had Wee2 5 weeks ago at 36 weeks as I had a bipartite placenta, placenta previa & vasa previa (which can be fatal to the foetus) & he was 2.165kg. He was in the isolette for a while but out after 10-12 hrs. He was home after five days but seven days later we were back in due to his feeding issues & not gaining weight. We've been back for three weeks & will be here another few weeks. Hopefully everything will be ok - but each situation is different & each baby is too. Wee1 was also born on 36wks & didn't have feeding issues like this (different feeding issues but gained weight).

no nicu stay at 34 wks. came home when i did. need oxygen while in the hospital and had some issues feeding but i could handle it so they let him come home with me

Thanks everyone, but oh was I wrong! My cerclage was removed at 35+5 days and we thought I would labor instantly, but I am now 38 weeks, dilated to 4, 70% effaced and have been stuck that way for almost 3 weeks, so, needless to say...I didnt have a preemie this time around....

my daughter was born 35/6, she was in nicu for 2 days, after almost dying due to negligance from the midwife (i aparantly wasnt in labour but was 7cm dilated coz i was getting my contractions in my back, cord was wrapped round babys neck 3 times and was almost strangled to death by the time we were able to get into theatre, her heart beat was just 12 beats a minute), she was on oxygen for 18 hours and on heart monitors etc. and 2 rounds of antibiotics, after 2 days she was aloud to come up to my room and we came home after 1 week 1 day (by that stage i had been in hospital just under 3 weeks because of complications

I had my oldest son at 35 weeks and after a few hours of supplemental oxygen he was breathing room air. He spent one night in the special care nursery, no NICU, and came home the same day I did.

i had my baby boy lucas at 36 weeks. we did not have to go to the nicu. we are both very lucky to be alive. i had him on wednesday after almost 60 hours of labor and we all left the hospital the following sunday morning!

I had Ryder at 36 weeks. The reason being my fluid was secretly leaking and I hadnt nolticed. So they induced me and I had a very easy labor. Unfortunatley, after he was born he had pulminary hypertention and a blood infection which caused him to be put on a Lung Bypass Machine. He was in the NICU for 2 1/2 months. He is a miracle he is doing great now. Scary right? Dont worry...im sure baby girl will be just fine. Look at it this way...if what happened to my boy and he made it through...No Worries Momma! your baby girl will be just fine. They are fighters those lil ones. Keep your head up and be positive! I will pray for both of you! I am confident you two will be just wonderful.
