I had a my first son early by 3 months and was not able to have a baby shower. Is it okay to have a baby shower for the second one? I have heard that baby showers are usually for the first or okay if the second child is of the opposite sex.

YES! My first baby came three months early too and I didn't have any showers. Life was too scary for several months and then we cacooned ourselves for the first year. We didn't care that we didn't have many of the accessories, we were just so grateful to hve her home. My friends gave me a shower for my second baby and it was wonderful.

Folks are permitted to shower you as often as they'd like! And especially if you've never been showered, haha. Its only not okay if you demand to be showered :)

I don't see anything wrong with having another one..My son was born at 23 weeks and we had to actually go out and buy stuff because i didn't have a baby shower yet..when it finally came down to me getting one it was just thrown together..so we're already planning on having another one even if we do it ourselves..plus my sister had a second shower when she was pregnant with my nephew (which is her second child)...nothing wrong with having more then one..so go for it.. =)

I gave my daughter a shower for her 2nd baby and he was the same sex as the 1st one. All children deserve to have a picture of their baby shower in their baby book. It doesn't have to be big, just special for the new baby. good luck

THanks for all your responses. My next concern is it really okay to throw it yourself or should I ask someone to do it. Due date is Feb 1. Is it too early to have it in the beginning of december?

I had two baby showers with my first son and I got pregnant again. My youngest was 6 weeks early so I didn't have time for a baby shower at the time. All I asked for Christmas was a baby shower and I got my wish. I had a baby shower when my son was 9 months old. It worked out. I have two boys and it shouldn't matter how many kids you have.

As long as someone else is throwing it for you, I don't see a problem with having a 2nd baby shower.

My son was 6 weeks early, and actually still had my baby shower....Im pregnant again and Im having another baby shower...Only this time Im throwing it. And they're both boys..Hope that helps...

I don't see why not. My b/g twins were born six weeks early on the day of my baby shower, and I missed my shower. They are two now, and I just had their little brother ( he'll be a month and a half this thursday). I missed out on my shower and no one threw me one for my little man.

go for it! Abby was 21/2 months early and I missed out too! Now we preg with the second I'm hoping Mum will throw me one for this one lol, be a shame to miss out!
