I have 2 children. An almost 10yr old that was born at 38wks, and a almost 16 month old born at 34weeks. We are seriousily concidering having another but would like to hear from you on your following pregnancies after a premie. How far along did you make it? how much did baby weigh? Was baby ok? were tehre extra precautions your doctor took during your pregnancy such as closer monitoring? anything you can tell me will be very much so appreciated. I have spoken with my doctor a few times on this and she is all for it. That because of the last pregnancy, a new pregnancy would be more closely montiored. i feel very confident in my gyn. i am also going to speak with a couple of the nurses that we dealt alot with when our daughter was there for 3 weeks before she could come home. I know every pregnancy is different. I just want to hear experiences, so i can get the clearest picture possible before we definitely decide to go for another one. Thanks for all your input, it is truely appreciated!!!

First pregnacy was a 42 weeker big and healthy 8 lb 14 oz, second pregnacy was a 37 weeker smaller at 8 lb 4 oz, third pregnacy 32 week twins 5lb 3 oz and 2lb she was still born, 4 pregnacy 28 weeker 2 lb 15 oz health issues with her heart but doing well now, 5 pregnacy 24 weeker 1 lb 5 oz very sick grade 4 brain bleed, hydrocephalus required a VP shunt and multiple brain surgeries, blind, deaf, seziures, sever apnea, Brady cardias, had 50 percent of his small intestine removed due to NEC, uses a g-tube feeding tube implanted in his tummy for feeding, has cerebal palsey affecting his left side! All pregnacys are different and even being monitered regularly is not a guarantee, but if you want to have more children don't let a preterm pregnacy scare you every child is so worth it! Unless your doctor specifically told you not to have more babies!

My last baby was a preemie and I am curently pregnant again (29 weeks). My daughter was born at 34 weeks due to preterm labor. With this pregnancy we have had our fair share of scares. I am on 2 meds to keep contractions down and see my OB every 2 weeks and the high risk OB every 1-2 weeks. They also put me on bed rest at 20 weeks. It's scary thinking about the risks for this baby but the doctor have been great about keeping a close eye on things. They have been doing ultrasounds every 2 weeks to monitor the baby. I am hoping to get to al least 36 weeks with this one.

My oldest child tried to come early and they were able to stop my labor and i went naturally a day before my due date, my second was born at 38 weeks with no issues, my third was born 6 weeks early and she had some blood sugar issues but was ok other then that, they were all 18 months apart .... and I just had my youngest in May after 5 years and she came 9 weeks early and we had some pretty scary issues with her and some things we are still dealing with. They were watching me close for the fourth one and told me that I would need to be on bed rest most likely later in the pregnancy or at least limited activity, they got extra ultrasounds to monitor more closely and saw ob/gyn more frequently. I would talk to the doctor about why because sometimes when it is certain things they don't expect it to happen again and sometimes it can be a repeat. But your doctor should be able to tell you if there is a chance of bedrest etc. so you can have a back-up car plan for other kids and know what to expect. There are many things that you can do to help prevent or at least delay an early birth .... some are similiar to those that multiples go through so investigating those is always an option before hand and I know there were certain lifting restrictions and movements put on me when I was barely out of my second trimester.

I had my first at 26 weeks, and waited nearly 5 years before having another. i was monitored much more closely this time and had a planned section at 39 weeks which resulted in a healthy 7lbs 4oz baby boy. I had pre-eclampsia the first time, and it left me with high blood pressure so still on medication now, but had low blood pressure through my 2nd pregnancy. x

It's a scary thing after having a preemie when your thinking of having another baby. I have 2 children a 9 yr old who was full term and an 6 month old who was born at 29 wks. I want another baby but having my daughter scared me. I can't deal with going through all I did with her but don't regret none of it. But I think all pregnancies are different and having a third could very well go different from your other two pregnancies so just put a lot of thought into it first and if that's what you decide then go for it I'm sure everything will be ok. :)
