My water started leaking when I was 20 weeks pregnant and my body was having trouble replenishing the fluids so I was put on total bed rest and my daughter was born at 31 weeks weighing in at 4 pounds and now im 12 weeks pregnant with my second child and already been put on bed rest due to issues with my amniotic fluids so you just have to take things easy.

Hi! I was pregnant with our first child and felt that if I could make the first trimester everything would be fine. At 13 weeks, I woke in the middle of the night and passed a large clot. We went to the emergency room and they prepped me for a DNC, but decided to do an ultra sound at the last minute, and found my son's heart beat on the screen. I was sent home and was on bed rest for about a month. At about 19 weeks, I noticed the baby was pushing on my blatter (or so I thought), finally at about 21 weeks I called the doctor's office and went in to the hospital to have it checked out. The test showed I had ruptured membranes. For the next 10 weeks I was in the hospital on bed rest. I had 2 rounds of steroids during that time. I went into labor at 31 weeks and the doctor told us we would be doing good to have a 2 pound baby, but the next morning at 2:40 AM, I gave birth to a beautiful, healty 4 pound 6 ounce baby boy. He was on minimal oxygen and had to be forced fed until he developed his sucking and could eat for himself. He stayed in the NICU for 4 weeks. Today he is a healthy, happy, wonderful 19 year old college student, with a heart of gold. Hang in there, God will give you the strenth you need to get through this if you will just ask him.

Hello! My membranes ruptured at 20 wks. I was dialated at 2cm. They immediately put me on antibiotics and bedrest. (trendellenberg...feet above head in a hospital bed) I was told it was very likely that I would go into labor and have my baby within 24 hrs. Well, I'm here to tell you, with faith and determination, I laid in that bed for 2 months and 3 days until my baby girl came at 28 wks. weighing 2 lbs. 13 oz. I decided to have 2 rounds of steroid shots, one at 24 and one at 26 wks although there are risks associated and it's not always recommended. My miracle baby, Chloe Elizabeth is now 7 yrs. old, perfectly healthy and perfect in everyway. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Hi! I'm 39 yrs old & I had a very premature baby. She was born 10/17/99 and she weighed....2 1/2 pounds. She was born at 25 weeks. She is going on 10 yrs old now. She was my mircle baby. I was told by the doctors that what saved her was her sex. If she would have been a boy she probley would have not made it. So- Yes she will be ok....just try to at least keep her inside until 25 weeks....okay. But if not she will still be ok. My daughter is fine.....and so will yours be. My water broke at 22 weeks and I delivered at 29 1/2 weeks. I was in the hospital on bedrest for 2 months and was given antibiotics and the steroids also. My son is now 6 weeks old, still in the NICU, but doing great! Hang in there!

My water broke at 23 weeks and I was on full hospital bed rest. I made it to 27 and 4 days weeks and then my babies cord prolapsed. She was born by an emergency c-section 3 months premature. She was in the nicu for 2 & 1/2 months. But now she is perfectly healthy.

Make sure you get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids. I probably would have made it longer I was replenishing the water very nicely (our goal was 30 weeks) but I got food Poisoning from something I ordered from the Hospital Cafeteria and I "reruptured" after that I never really rebuilt fluid.

If you need anyone to talk to, or would like to hear more just let me know. I know how scary it can be...

thankyou so much, your story is very reassuring! I'm so pleased to hear that your little boy is doing well, My second son was a 29 weeker and he's doing great, but this early feels so much more scary. I will definately take your advice and the advice about keeping my pelvis raised is a really good thought, will start doing that too... thankyou very much for your response, very much appreciated xx

hi cassana,yes i have had this happen in my first pregnancy i was 19 weeks pregnant,put on total bedrest like yourself and givin antibiotics to help fight infection.i then went out one night to a friends and it was all a little to much.at 22 weeks my waters broke again,went to hospital and they sent me home.then when i was 24 weeks my sister had a baby so i visited her in the hospital thinking all would be fine i was at a hospital anyway.the next day waters broke again and went into labour having my son by c section at 24.6 weeks,luckily i was given steriods to help develop the babys lungs,he was on a ventilator for 2 and a half months,and hospitalised for 4 months in total.he is now almost 7 years old,and remember technology keeps getting better and better as years go on.the doctors found i had placental abruption(where the placenta comes away from the wall of the uterus)and i was hemoraging(sorry cant spell)though this isnt the only cause of waters breaking.my advice stay in bed and rest try not to stress i know it's hard not to.and keep your body elevated(your legs and pelvis higher)this helps seal up the water sack.i know it's unco.but it will be well worth it in the long run when you have your little one.my son is still impatient always in a hurry,just the way he entered the world.if you can get yourelf as close to 28-32 weeks as possible you'll be fine.which you will be anyway.my boy is proof a 24 weeker weighing 696grams,now a boofa.so stay in bed and good luck.xxoo
