Hi all. My daughter was born 5weeks early in April 2007, she was in the nicu for 5 days but for a rapid heart rate which did clear on its own once we came home. She is now 19months and she is active and healthy and meeting all her miltestones either on time or slightly early. But I am wondering about these growth charts. She has always been slightly below the 50th percentile, on height and weight, I was told since she always has been it is okay, as long as she does not drop. So I am wondering is this okay?

We have had quite a few people now tell us she is small for her age especially when they hear she will be 2 next year. But I am assuming that is cause she was a preemie... but I prefer to think she is dainty or petite!

It really does bother me when other people compare my baby to others... they all grow and develop at different times..my daughter was born at 34 weeks and was 5 lbs, in the nicu she dropped to just 4 lbs. She is now 10 months and just 11 pounds..as long as your child is gaining weight and growing, then don't be concerned about other people. It is perfectly normal for each child to grow at their own pace.. if you do feel strongly, then address your concerns with your pediatrician.

She is 24lbs and 33 inches tall! She sat at 23lbs for about 4months. She also eats exceptionally well, always has been a great eater I am guessing she just burns it off too fast! =) She is mover and hardly stays still, even in her sleep she will move around.

Is there a a Canadian growth chart? I have an American one but I figure there should be no difference.

What is her weight and height right now? My son was 7 weeks early and although he is kind of tall (37inches) at 2 years and 10 months old right now, he definitely does not have the weight on him. He only weighs about 26 lbs. He is a very skinny child and he eats all the time.

If you are really concerned about her weight and height, you can always talk to her pediatrician about it.
