My daughter was born 9 weeks premmie, weighed 3 pounds & 11 ounces, she had many challenges. She was not able to walk un-assisted, she needed support to sit up, drooled constantly, developmentally delayed, frequent body tremors, some seizure like episodes, kind of in a daze all the time, clenched left hand, choking on her food, speach problems, left side weakness etc. She was elevated on her toes when holding her to walk, she was splinted for a leg brace & they wanted to give her botox, but after researching botox and discovering how it’s made and there were no long term studies I decided against it. Her life was restricted & so was mine ...and it looked this way for the rest of her life ... & mine. I felt hopeless.

We were attending all sorts of treatments and therapies which cost a lot. A friend told me about some special wellness supplements from a particular company, she started taking them in her yogurt, after one week she was up walking un-assisted, it made an immense difference to her brain function, memory, balance, mood & cognition in a short space of time. I was elated!

I am so grateful to the person that told me about this incredible technology. She now has a life now ….. and so do I. It’s now over 14 yrs later and she continues to take these special nutrients, she has attended normal public schools, she is almost 16, in a few weeks she begins driving lessons and has just started an after school casual job in a fast paced food takeaway.

Absolutely we are here. I had my daughter at 26 weeks at 1 lb 8 ozs. 3 1/2 months in the NICU. A team of great nurse mommies help. I was there everyday with her and it seemed like forever since those long days, know your premmie is in the best place for them right now. We were very fortunate to come home oxygen free, no monitors, etc. I send lots of prayers up for you. :)

Hi i had my daughter at 28 wks, waters broke they gave her steriods but labour followed very quickly. She weighed 2pound 8 oz. She was in scbu for 3 months she came out and i was frightened to death being on my own with her she was so tiny and fragile. She did have complications growing up weight gain was a big worry she looked almost anorixic. She did everything slower than a full term baby but thats to be expected,i just wanted to share my story with you because its most scary thing i have ever been through. But she is now 12 and has no long term problems.Shes my little miracle because there were times i didnt think she was going to pull through.

my son was 30 weeks, weighed 3lbs and 2oz, 16 inches in length. I had a placenta previa that caused my premature delivery, i lost a lot of blood and i was confined 1 month before delivery. my son spent almost 2 months in NICU with mechanical vent, but when i took him out of the hospital he still had oxygen thru nasal cannula. a lot of people thought he wouldnt survive coz when he was born, he wawsnt breathing and his lungs wasnt functioning properly, no surfactant, with high pressure coming in coz of the vent. He is already 2 years old and he is developing fast... well except for speaking... he still cant speak properly... but a few words are there and he is still trying to pronounce words little by little... =)

My daughter was 29 weeks. She weighed 2 lbs 9 oz and was 15 in. I had preeclampsia and a placental abruption. It was the scariest day of my life. My husband couldn't be present for the birth because it was an emergency. I was signing papers as I was being wheeled to the OR. Fortunately we are both doing great today. Haley spent 5 weeks in the NICU before coming home 1 week before my birthday! I didn't need anything else. Today she is 10 1/2 months old and doing great. She's caught up developmentaly but is still a little small.

My first daughter was born at 29 weeks. I had preeclampsia and was admitted to the hospital for over night observation. I ended up staying in until I delivered her by emergency c-section. I was doing well until one night everything went down hill. I had to be transported to a level 3 hospital by helicopter. As a result of the preeclampsia my kidneys and liver had shut down, my blood pressure was through the roof and delivery was the only way for the baby or myself to survive. They flew me to the level 3 hospital and she was delivered at 3:33 a.m. on Feb. 9, 2000. She was born at 2 lbs 8 oz and was 14". She stayed in the NICU for 6 weeks and was then able to come home. Today she is a vibrant and very healthy 9 year old. You would never know she was premature. After I delivered her all of my body functions returned to normal over time. It was a scary scary situration, but she was so worth it.

Hello! My son was born between 28 and 29 weeks gestation. He is now 2 years and 5 months old! He had some delays is physical development, like he didn't walk until he was around 18 months but he's never had to have physical therapy, only an interventionist for a couple of months! He's a very intelligent boy I must say but he's still not climbing and jumping like a typical toddler boy might. He's still underweight but about average in height...I think he's catching up just fine! Good luck and congrats on your precious preemie!!

Hi, yes my son was also born 11 weeks early at 29 weeks. His birth weight was 3 lbs 3 oz and then dropped to 2 lbs 10 oz. Caiden spent 9 weeks in NICU. He was on room air from the begining! I went into labor at 21 weeks and spent 8 weeks on bed rest in the hospital. We are both doing well now but it was a long road. Caiden is now 5 mo old and 14 lbs. He feels like such a moose ;-)

I had 24-week twin boys in Oct 2005 - 16 weeks early. They weighed 1 lb 7 oz and 1 lb 8 oz. Sadly, we lost the oldest, our little angel Mark. He was a little fighter, who survived 4-1/2 months in the NICU. His younger brother, Brett, came home after 131 days in the NICU. We experience every complication that a preemie can have. Brett is now 3 years, 8 months and doing great. Only mild delays with minimal intervention. He's nothing short of a miracle and the light of our life! I also lost a baby girl, Genevieve, in 2003 at 21 weeks. I went in to premature labor and she was stillborn.

My son was born at 28 weeks. He was 2lbs 5ozs. He was in one NICU for six weeks and transfered to another hospital for two weeks. He was born in one city and transfered to another to the closest NICU an hour after he was born... that almost killed me right then.. as I had a emergency section and had to stay at the hospital and couldn't even see him for two days! I basically made my OB release me so that I could get to my son.. then ended up having to take the bus to the other city due to road conditions..it was very icy. He cruised thru the NICU though and they let him be tranfered to the orginal hospital to gain weight before I could take him home. He is now 19 months and is a total monkey..lol. He is doing great with no health problems.

My little angel was born at 30 weeks. Spent 5 weeks in the NICU and 6 weeks at home on a heart monitor. She is now 13 months old and perfect. They put alot of fear in you in the beginning about what could go wrong. I spend 2 weeks in the hospital before she was born because my water broke 1 day into my 29th week. Really scary for me being a nurse because I understood every bit of the medical jargon and feared the worst daily.

Mine was born at 28 weeks officially, though the ultrasounds 24 hours prior to birth were stubbornly insisting 26. Weighed a little under two pounds. He's now two and a half, and having finally figured out running, goes everywhere at a run now. Some sensory goofiness and oral dysphasia, but he's solid and healthy.

my preemie was born at 24 weeks and is now 7. It was the hardest thing i have ever gone through in which i still get emotional over. what i always remind myself of, to this day, is that everything happens for a reason. he had many medical rollercoasters then, of what seemed like forever, but eventually got over them. besides some small neurological issues and his visual impairment, he is a smart and healthy little miracle loving life!!

My son Bailey was born at 29 weeks weighing 2 pound 15 ounces I did go into labour with him at 25 weeks but they managed to stop it and sent me home on bed rest! 4 weeks later my waters broke and we both started to get an infection. NICU is a tough place but the drs and nurses are all there to support you. Bailey had several problems and was home after 6 weeks he stopped breathing on me two weeks after he came home and i had to do CPR on him! He has been admitted to hospital 12 times since he has been home and he is only 14 months old has some sensory issues and some low tone but is the light of my life and i wouldn't have it any other way he is here and thats the most important thing!

She came home on apnea monitor and oxygen. She has a very slight case of cerebal palsy but it is hard to tell unless youwatch her. She wears a brace on her right leg. I also have a 14 year old son that now weighs 106 lbs. and at birth he weighed 3 lb. 3/4 oz.. He was in hospital for 2 months. He has asthma ADD/ADHD and ODD. He had a surgery to correct his left ureter he had a blockage in it when he was 6 months old. Other than that my kids have grown up so well and done so good. Good luck to all. Oh yea they were both born at 28 weeks 12 weeks early. They were from 2 seperate prgnancies also.

They are both healthy, intelligent and very special young men. The best advice that I have is to breastfeed. I think it made all the difference in how healthy they were despite their prematurity.

She was in the NICU for 47 days and came home on Oxygen, she had a physical therapy nurse that came to our home, Iron drops we had to give her and she wasn't quite 5 pounds. They had me terrified about all that could possibly be wrong with her developmentally. I was a wreck. Now however, she will be 12 this year. She will be in 6th grade she is an Honor roll student, she is very athletic. Very loving Beautiful talented little lady and you would never know she had such a crazy start to her life!
