My son was born at 33 weeks 4 days, and was 6 lbs 9 oz, 19 inches. However my doctor let me go undiagnosed/untreated for Gestational diabetes which is why he was so big. He spent 9 days in the Nicu.
He is now a very happy, very healthy, very active 16.5 month old.

I didn't realize my 29 weeker was so lucky to have weighed 4lbs 5oz , but he did spend three months in the nicu with some complications such as sleep apnea and a episode of SVT but other than that he did well thanks be to God :) He is 3 now !

I had my son at 34 weeks and he weighed 3pounds 5 ounces, he was in the NICU for almost 3 weeks, but that was 21 years ago and I'm sure things are different now. In fact Preemie clothes were so hard to find that I initially dressed him in Cabbage Patch dolls clothing. LOL

My son was born March 6 at 33 wks 2 days and weighed 5 lbs and was 18.5 inches. He has been breathing on his own since he was born, eating great on breast and from the bottle, and holding his temp fine but he is battling apnea right now. I was hoping to bring him home on Friday but it is not looking like that is going to happen just yet. He is a strong little guy.

I've had 2 preemies. My first was 30 weeks (3 lbs, 3 oz) and my 2nd was 33 weeks. He was 4 lbs 12 oz when he was born. He is now 9 years old and is over 80 pounds and about 4 1/2 feet tall! Don't worry, they look small now but they will grow! My first is still really skinny like me and is almost 5 feet tall at 12 years old, but still one of the smallest in his class. 3 weeks makes a huge difference!

My daughter, Malerie, was born at 33 weeks and she was 18 inches long and weighed 5 pounds 4 ounces. The doctors marveled at how big she was for only 33 weeks and said that if I had carried her to term, she would have been HUGE!

My son was a 33 weeker at 3.5 pounds. My daughter was 32 weeks, 4 days at 3 pounds, 2 ounces. Both are physically normal for their ages now (10 and 7). Son has some very mild Aspergers. Both are smart as a whip. Your sweetie will be great! After my two beautiful preemies, I look at full term babies and think, wow, that baby is too fat!

I went into labor at 30 weeks, and received dosages of steroids to improve growth of lungs etc. When my baby boy was born 3 weeks later (at 33 weeks) he weighed 5 pounds 5 ounces. Apparently I was very lucky? We had to endure pethidine withdrawals, but he only spent about a week in the neonatal icu.

Rebecca was exactly 33 weeks at birth, just over 5 years ago. She weighed in at 5 lbs., 5 oz., and was 17 1/2 in. long. She stayed in the NICU for 38 days - bubble CPAP, heart murmur, blood transfusion, GI infection, etc.
She now has asthma, allergies, seizure disorder, and a heart rhythm disorder, in addition to speech-language developmental delays, mild conductive hearing loss (as a result of chronic ear infections), and crowns on several teeth.
Currently, Rebecca sees 7 doctors: family physician, pediatric dentist, optometrist, audiologist, speech therapist, pediatric neurophysiologist, and a pediatric cardiologist. She also attends 2 preschool programs nearby.

my son was 6 weeks early and was 3lbs 1 oz. he was in the nicu for 2 weeks. the first year or so he was on the line or below as far as development, and he was about 3 months behind in milestones such as walking, talking etc. after year 2 i didn't see any difference. hes now 3 years old, still slender but above avg height wise. hes starting school in sept and you would never guess he was a preemie
