My little girl was born 28 weeks and weight 6.3 pounds and 14". We stayed in NICU for 6 weeks and then transferd to high care for another 3 weeks and a week in a normal ward. She was prem because of me being diabetic, her lungs did not mature enough before birth and also after birth she had very low blood sugar.

My daughter was born @ 33wks... She was only there for 8 days but it's was tough becasue I had preeclampsia && didn't get to see her for awhile because of the meds that I was on but I'm so blessed because my first child died while I was in labor due to a placenta abrution @ 37wks... Thankful for my "new" doc that took extra precautions to make sure I had a healthy baby!

My daughter was born at 30 9/10 weeks and was in the NICU for 7 very long stressful weeks.....She was there longer then some because she struggled to learn to eat...WE finally had enough and just brought her home on the Haberman nipple (Nipple used for clef palate babies) that's the only one she would take and we weened her off ourselfs other wise she would have been there who knows how much longer....

I had a 28 weeker and he was brought home at 84 days. He was born to save my life- I had eclamptic seizures. He is 14 years old now and we were so very lucky that he survived and is a strong and healthy teen with no residual from his days as a preemie.

We had 27 w 1 d twin boys that were 2 lb 6 oz and 2 lb 8 oz. They were together at the delivering hospital for 7 days, until one was transfered to Johns Hopkins Hospital. One stayed in NICU for 3 mths and the other 5 mths. NICU is hard enough... harder with at 2 hospitals and trying to recover from a c-section

My twins were born at 28w0d. One was 3 lbs 1 oz, the other 2 lb 7 oz. The birth was sudden and they did not receive any steroids for their lungs. One was there 57 days, came home for 4 and then went back for another 20. The other came home on day 100. They are now 6 years old. I'd love to hear how everyone's kids are doing now. What services they get if any, what repercussions there have been from their early births.

Congratulations on bringing baby home! My son, who is seven now, was born at 26 weeks. He was 2lbs. 2oz and came home at 4lbs. He was in the NICU and Special Care Baby Unit for about 3 1/2 months. He spent 93 of those days on the ventilator. The first few years were really rough, but he is now a healthy and happy little boy.
