At 37 Weeks the baby is no longer classed as prem, so therefore it is fully matured and able to breathe on its own.
So it is safe for baby to be born anytime from then on.
37-40 weeks is full term, 40-42 post term.
and prior to 37 weeks is prem.

My son Ayden was born at 27 weeks 5 days and weighed 2 lbs 4 oz. He is now 7 years only and nearly 74 lbs!

My son was born at 23 1/2 weeks and weighed 1lb. 9oz. Now at the age of 7, he weighs 35 lbs, and is 43in. tall. (about the size of a 5 yr old.) He still isn't caught up yet with his weight or height, but everything else is right on track.

My son weighted 9 lbs 3 ozs at 37 weeks and one day. He was blue and not breathing. He stopped breathing twice more during the next 36 hours and scared me out of my mind. The nurses said he was a typical gestational diabetic baby even though I was not diagnoised with gestational diabetes. He was a giant premmie compared to the rest of the babies, but still a premmie.

My daughter Renee was born at 35wks and weighed 4lbs and 8oz and was 17 inches. She is now at 10lbs 4oz and 22 inches. Still a little on the small size but healthy thank God!

My daughter was born at 31 weeks and weighed 1 lb 12 oz. When she was 8 weeks old and released from the hospital, she weighed 4 lb 5 oz. She is now almost 6 years old and weighs around 42 lbs.

my son was a 27 weeker and weighed 840 grams or 1lb 14oz and was 12.5 inches long. He is now 8 and weighs 37 lbs. He is small but like alot of other preemies, he has CP and is a slow grower, but healthy!!

Ok so I dont feel so left out..... My 6wk early baby was 6 Lbs 14oz...... I had done the math FIVE TIMES and almost punched a nurse for suggesting my hubby wasn't her daddy :)

Dr said he'd have been a 10lb at 40wks.
He will be 4yrs old in 7 wks and is 36lbs.
