Hey there everyone... I was just interested to hear how your babies were born. Both of mine we're sections and my 3rd will be too. Also wondered how your labour started or whether you were induced for some reason... my waters break and I get contractions but I strangely don't dialate at all, anyone else experienced the same?

I was awaken about 3am to wet sheets thinking I had, had an accident, given I was only 16wks preg. Low and behold my water had broken. I was rushed to the hosp. were I stayed until I delivered 4wks later. When I went into full labor I thought I was just badly constipated. I had asked my husband earlier in the day to bring me some prunes, which I had eaten hrs prior to me going into labor. My labor lasted about 2hrs I had 1 1/2 mild hrs of labor and 1/2 hr of pure heck. By the time they rolled me into the delivery room she was sliding out.

All my kiddos came early and were all preemies...For some odd reason my water bag just ruptures and i go into labor early..One they had to stop my labor for 48 hrs then induce me but the others i had to have right away becuz of the risk of infection..

my first was natural and on time, my 2nd c section and 6 weeks early and i didnt go into labour ., my waters broke but nothing happened but then my temp started rising and my heart rate falling , then her heart rate soared over 200 bpm so they had to get her out therefore resulting in a emerg c section.

My son was born at 32 weeks I had back ache for 24 hours which came and went in every 5 minutes and i just thought it was braxton hicks.. when it finally got worse i rang labour ward and they said same and to come in if i was really worried otherwise stay home. Previously i had been in hospital with the same thing and was left in an assesment room for over 6 hours without any one popping in to see how i was later that evening i discharged myself and told them i was disgusted in there care and will be in pain in my own comfortable surrondings at home.

eventually the pain doubled so i finally decided to go the hospital at 7 o clock... they checked me out and i was 8cm dialated, by the time i got up on labour ward i was 10 and the midwife had to break my waters... 20 mins later baby was out and wisked away. I blamed myself for the early arrival for not going hospital sooner, but it turns out my placenta had matured as well as me carrying a 10cm cyst. one thing i can say is i will never go on that hospitals care again... i wont even tell you what went off afterwards.. we will be here all night.

My son was born at 35 weeks exactly after being induced at 34+6. Ever since I was 22 weeks pregnant the sonographer told us I'd either develop pre-clampsia or have a really small baby as the blood flow from the placenta was too high. We didn't worry too much as me and my bf were small as babies. We had growth scans so the next one was at 26 weeks which showed he was still small but the blood flow wasn't as high which seemed fine. 30 week scan showed that his abdomen hadn't grown at all! Saw a consultant who told me that if it happens again at the next scan then I'd be having my baby early. At 32 weeks had another scan which showed abdomen still not grew but everything else was. Saw a different consultant and she said to go for a doppler scan next week and take it from there. So, we went for the doppler scan at 33 weeks which showed the blood flow was stopping and starting. This was over Christmas and New year (not a great time!) so as he wasn't growing much etc, they diagnosed IUGR and told me to prepare for the baby asap. This was a Thursday and they booked me in for induction on the Tuesday, but to go in every 2nd day for monitering. That seemed fine so I was induced on the Tuesday, he came on the Wednesday weighing 4lb 12oz. (Bigger than we were told) He spent 15 days in SCBU with jaundice and sugar levels. Now he is nearly 8 months and weighs 21lbs, you wouldn't think he was premature if you saw him!

That is so awesome. My son was born at 28 weeks gestation. He was 2lbs. 8oz. but he spent 11 weeks in the NICU. You are so blessed. He is now almost five months and doing great. Thank you for the insight to your story. What a rude dr and nurse staff. I would complain.

My water broke at 28 weeks, the doctors gave me medicine to stop any contractions. After a few days I got an infection and they let me contract and labor. I had him after 5 hours of labor. Natural, no c-section and no epidural no pain killers at all. He was 2lbs. 8oz.

Our son who was our first was born at 32 weeks via emergency c-section. I had a septated uterus and my water broke at 30 weeks. I was having mild contractions during the two week gap. But labor started spontaneous and I had to have an emergency c-section due to him being transverse. He is now 10 and almost as tall as me and no outward signs of ever being premmie. He has some medical issues but nothing we haven't been able to work through.

i went into pre term labour at 28 weeks along. was put on bed rest and stuck in women's college hospital for 3 weeks. they managed to stop my dialating but not my contractions......i finally was allowed to have my daughter at 35 weeks (6 lbs 13oz). lol i had contractions the whole time from 28 weeks to 35. she was facing the wrong way and her head was too big so they had to use the vacuum.....7 or so stiches later....then they had to keep us for 6 days due to her high jaundce counts. i think i would have rather had a section....my baby had alot of issues due to the vacuum and a giant blood puddle on the back of her head.

My preemie was my first pregnancy. I began to feel like something just wasnt right. My doctor, however, decided that I was a first time pregnant woman who was simply paranoid and that there was nothing wrong. When I knew I wasnt feeling right I called her office and asked to be seen. I was told that there was nothing available. I asked them if I come in and sit in the lobby until all the other patients were seen if she would see me then. They said they would call me back and when they did they amazingly had a cancellation. I went in and the doctor examined me. She actually told me that there was nothing wrong and that if I wanted her to do the paper work so I could be off work she would but that I would just get fat and bored. No kidding. She really said that. I took my doctor at her word and chalked it up to the fact that I was preggers for the first time and what I was experiencing was normal. This was a Wednesday. On Saturday I was in a lot of pain but when I called my doc she assured me all was well. On Sunday my water broke and I was in so much pain all I could do is lay down and moan. I called the doctor and told her water was gushing out and I couldnt control it. She rather irritatingly said that she had to be at the hospital to check on some other patients and I should come in later that afternoon. I had my husband drive me immediately. When I arrived the nurses werent very nice. They basically yelled at me that they werent expecting me until later in the afternoon. I explained that the pool around my feet was not urine and something must be wrong. They rolled their eyes and told me they would do a test to make sure it was amniotic fluid. I have no idea what else they thought it might be. So they confirmed that it was indeed amniotic fluid. I was put on complete bedrest in the hospital with hopes of delaying labor for two weeks. I had an IV and was hooked up to a contraction monitor. I told my husband to go ahead and go home because we didnt think anything was going to happen soon. He had to go to work the next day. As time passed I was again having a lot of pain. Pain to the point I could not help be moan. There was a lady down the hall screaming bloody murder! The nurse came in and said "I dont know whats wrong with you but you are not having contractions". I advised her that if I wasnt having contractions there was something really wrong. She sat by my bed and put her hand on my stomach and told me to tell her when I felt the next pain coming on. I didnt have to say anything at all. The nurse knew immediately when my next contraction was because my stomach got so hard. The contraction monitor was broken!! So, the next thing I know there are people running around everywhere, in and out of my room. Im thinking they are all trying to stop the labor. The next time someone spoke to me it was a nurse asking me if my husband was on the way. I said, "no, why?" She advised me I was having a baby today!! When the doctor finally arrived she told me not to have high hopes for my child that it would probably die. Kaitlyn had other plans!! She was in NICU for 6 weeks. She was only 2lbs 7.11 ozs when she greeted the world. So many things could have gone wrong but we have been truly blessed. There are issues that we deal with due to the prematurity. Preemies tend to have common traits. She is a tom boy. Most preemie girls are because they didnt get that final boost of hormones from the mom in the womb. She is ADHD but we manage without meds so far. She is extremely smart. Always placed in high honors classes which she barely passes because she doesnt want to do the work. FCAT scores at the top of the nation put her in high honors. Physically she is fine. You would never know that she was my little miracle baby.

I've had three preemies, and they were early for different reasons.

My oldest was doing great. Everything was on schedule, then at 20 weeks we had another ultrasound, and found a small cyst on my left ovary. The dr. said it was no big deal, but we'd monitor it. She didn't monitor it, and it was a big deal. Thirteen weeks, The day after I had a Dr's appt we went back to the hospital because I was in so much pain I couldn't even move. They did an ultrasound and told me, "Your cyst is really big and your baby is really small." The cyst had been feeding off my placenta, so the baby wasn't getting all he needed. The cyst was trying to rupture. We did an emergency c-sec. They took the baby, the cyst and the ovary. Dawson weighed 2lbs 6oz, the cyst weighed 3lbs 14ozs!! He did great though. Never on any oxygen. Jaundice, but all three were. That's normal. He stayed in the NICU 5weeks, just to grow.

My second child, Dillan, a little girl, was always small. I was 2.5 months pg before she even showed on an ultrasound. They really didn't know what was causing it. I went in for a level 2 ultrasound and found out that I had reversed blood flow in my placenta, and had become preeclamptic. They took her that day at 31 weeks. They said during the surgery that my placenta was really small and hadn't developed properly. She only weighed 1 lb 9oz! She was in the NICU for only 7 weeks. She did very well. She did have a brain bleed, but it cleared on it's on. SHe was under an oxygen tent for 1/2 a day, and that was all.

My third was born at 36 weeks because my BP was out of control. He weighed 4lbs 13oz. He was perfect and got to come home with us! We had to put him on a jaundice light, but were able to do that at home. I had to be on bedrest with him for two months, so we decided he will be our last.

It seems like a lot, but all in all we have been really blessed. They are all beautiful, happy and healthy now. Given the situations we didn't go through very much with their births either. I know babies that small can have a lot of issues.

My membranes ruptured prematurely with them all and i was hospitalized until i finally went in to labor. My first was only 2 weeks early so it was no big deal. with the second my water broke at 33 weeks and after being in the hospital for a week she was born with the third i water broke at 29 weeks and i didn't deliver for 3 weeks. all are healthy and growing

At 29 weeks had twinges and a bit of a show, went to hospital for observation. Told them pain was worse, they asked if I wanted pethadine or an internal, went with the internal and told I was 5-6cm dialated, they gave me steroids to help with the boys lungs but that never got a chance to work before they were born 2lb 12 and 2lb 15

Quoting Treasa:

I was high risk anyway due to my age and uterine fibroids. So I went in for my 27 week checkup and my blood pressure was through the roof, I had preeclampsia. So I was immediately hospitalized given ultrasounds and meds to try and stablize my blood pressure. I had none of the symptoms except high blood pressure. So I was in the hospital for a week and they decided to give me a c-section. My little peanut was born at 28 weeks and was only 2lbs.

Thats exactly what happened to me Treasa. I was having a great pregnancy and went to the dr because I was a little bit more swollen then I had been, I didnt think much of it because I was back to work after a 2 week Christmas vacation. I had no proteins nothing at that time just very high blood pressure, within 3-4 hrs things got nuts! Did they ever give you a reason for your preclampsia? I am only 25 years old too, and was healthy before my pregnancy. I lasted in the hospital 2 days before my section.

My son was born at 26 weeks and 4 days. I was induced due to severe preclampsia and HELLP syndrome, but he couldn't tolerate the labor and neither could my blood pressure so we ended up with an emergency c-section. If I have another baby in the future I will be high risk, and have another c-section.

I was actually at the doctor for my 2 week check-up ,I was 35 weeks to the day. When he checked the baby heart rate that's when the fun began. Next thing I know I 'm being sent to Labor and Delivery for observation. The doc came in and did ultrasound, put me on fetal monitor and said I might be there over night for observation. After 2 hours they decided to tell me that I am going to deliver in the morning. They induced, broke water, put balloon cathater in me to help dialate. Went all night with contractions, got epidural, then they tell me they don't like his heart rate. 9:50 am my son Noah was born by emergency C-section. He was in the NICU for 2 weeks. I couldn't wait till he got home. Now he is 3 months and you would never know he was preemie !!

Both came home in less then 24 hours and I felt fantastic! my daughter another thing all together..my water broke on its own at 26 weeks, I ended up in the hospital until I delivered her at 31 weeks via c-section at 4lbs 1.3ounces.. she was in the NICU for an additional 23 days before bringing her home... my twins were 33 weeks to the day, but i never went in to labor. mine were emergency c-section (though we already knew that's how i would have to deliver). i had been in the hospital for the past week (Jacob, who was on my left had been shutting my kidney off) and i started bleeding the day they sent me home. my husband rushed me back to the hospital, where they did an ultrasound. it showed that Elijah (the one on my right) was extremely swollen through his abdomen and they could tell there was extra fluid in there. we dstayed 6 days at our home hospital, then the boys were flown to kosair children's hospital (in louisville, ky) where we found out that they both had holes in their bladders and they weren't peeing. a few surgeries for Elijah and 2 months later, i brought them home.

so, in a short answer to your question... i never went in to labor.

My daughter was born by c-section at 38 weeks, we went to the Dr on friday I was already dilated 4-5cm with out contractions, she was breeched so they scheduled a c-section for the following Wednesday. On Monday morning just after midnight I woke up to my water breaking and contractions 5 minutes apart, by the time we got to the hospital (30 min. away) my contractions were 2 minutes apart and the medical team was arriving for the c-section. She was born by emerg c-section a couple of hours later. She was 8lb 5 oz.

My son was another story... at my 20 week ultrasound they found my cervix was open and I was fully effaced - I had no idea. I went from ultrasound to emergency had a cervical cerclage and was put on bed rest for as long as I could last. I was on bed rest at home only allowed to get up for bathroom breaks and trips to ultrasound/Dr appointments. At 24 weeks I was in the hospital for the steroid injections to prepare his lungs. At 26 weeks and 1 day I woke up at around midnight with a mild back ache, went to the washroom and was spotting a bit. Hubby was away so I was at my in-laws, I woke my father in law and within the 10 minutes it took us to get ready to go to emergency my contractions were 2 minutes apart. I went to emerg at the closest hospital for a couple of hours (this time only 5 minute drive away) where I was 2-3cm dialated and the contractions were getting more painful, my water partially broke. I was transfered to another hospital that could handle the preterm delivery where I laboured for another 11 hours, continued to dialate until I stayed at 7cm for a couple of hours and never had the the urge to push. My waters were broken completely and I started to bleed with placental abrution so I was given meds to try to speed up the labour. The baby went into distress within 30 minutes of the meds and I was given an emergency c-section. He was 2lb 9oz at birth, now just over 7 months (4 months corrected), weighs 17lbs and is mostly ok, has a few minor issues that we hope he outgrows.

I was actually bedridden for the first 5 1/2 months of my pregnancy due to morning sickness. I'd had a weakend cervix due to precancerous cells years before. When I finally started feeling better I started cleaning my house then I started feeling back aches. In the middle of the night I started spotting. Went to the hospital and contractions really started. They were able to stop the contractions with magnessium until they could give me two days worth of steroids for the baby's lungs. When the mag stopped the labour started. He was tangled in the cord and breech so they performed an emergency c-section. Alot of drama! He was in the hospital for 3 !/2 months and now nearly 2 years later he's doing great. When I first started having contractions I had no cervix left at all so they shipped me to a larger hospital with extensive NICU training. Wonder what a normal pregnancy is like?!!

Hi! My daughter was born at 29 weeks and 4 days. I had severe preeclamcia and HELLP which neither I or my OB knew I had. I had such horrible pains in between my breast bone and I couldn't stop vomiting that my husband took me to the hospital. We brought nothing with us because the last thing we thought was I would be delivering my daughter at 29 wks. I was shipped to a more advanced hospital where they put me on mag sulfate and they put me on pitosion (sp?) to activate my labor. After a few hours I wasn't dialiting and the mag sulfate was wrking so they put me up in the high risk section till I get sick again. 4 days later I got really sick and they did a emergency c-section.

My daughter was born 5 weeks early due to me developing pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome, she was born normally and I was told I did very well cosidering I was very ill. I had to be induced twice before things got rolling and if nothing started I would have had to have an emergency section b/c I was really ill. This one I don't know what will happen, hopefully a normal birth again but as long as my child is safe then I don't mind :)

hi, my baby girl was born by emegency c-section.

We were going in for 2 weekly scans due to them being concerned with her growth, she stopped growing around 30 weeks. We went in for monitoring and a scan on the monday and were due to see a consultant on the thursday.(we had prepared ourselves for them maybe inducing me on the thursday or something) but........while i was being monitored i was having braxton hicks contractions, i couldnt feel them but they showed up on the monitor.

Anyway, as i was having these, morgans heart rate kept dropping with every tightening, so the next thing i knew, i was being rushed to theatre to get her out (very scary for first time pregnancy)......she was fine but very small. she only weighed 3lb 9oz. very small for a singleton. she spent 3 weeks in an incubator in special care and is now nearly 3months old and weighs a healthy 8lb 13oz.

Is it right that once you have one c-section you will have more with your next babies?

My first child went into fullblown labor and the baby ended up being stillborn. they could not explain what went wrong . I waited quite a long time before trying to have children again . well I got pregnant and ended up in the hospital at 25 weeks sent for a US and the Dr's telling me they were going to induce me because my body was not being a very good incubator for my daughter they sent me back to my room and said they were going to give me a med that would take a couple of days to start my contractions . I was in fullblown labor within 20 mins of the meds and the Drs and nurses running around like little chickens with their heads cut off lol. I was going to have to have a Emergency C-section . My Daughter was born at 25 weeks weighing 11 ounces and 10 inches long with a 5% chance of survivng at all . she developed alot of complications , but I am happy to say she is 4 yrs old she still has alot of medical issues and she is still very tiny for her age she is only 26.8 pounds she will likely always be tiny and petite. I was not planning on having another Child but God had other plans for me ... The drs were watching me closely this time and things still went wrong they think it is something genetic with my body the babys get to a certain stage and my body just quits feeding them so I ended up in the hospital at 24 weeks with them telling me I was not going home till the baby came and that they were going to try and keep the baby in me till I was atleast 30 weeks along . Our lives got turned upside down I am telling you . well at 28 weeks I was headed again for another emergency c-section and My second Daughter was here weighing in at 1 pound 3 ounces and 11 inches long she is now 10 months old by birth and 7 months adjusted age she is growing like a weed and has no medical issues . Thank the Lord . I will not be having anymore children for it would mean another early child and more time in the NICU and just not worth risking it . I have had my tubes tied and infact had to fight the ethics board to have it done . but wasn't to bad with my medical history of having early babies they agreed to the tubaligation as long as I had a C-section well since I knew and they did not that I could only have a C-section because of the way they had to cut me open to get my first daughter out I knew I was getting my tubaligation ... we did two episodes of the Nicu with my first she was in there from jan 11/05 till may 27/05 and my second was in from oct 19/08 till feb 17/09 was more stressing the first time but hard the second time around because I did have another child at home and she needed her mommy too..

I was suffered from pneumonia and pleurisy during my sixth month of pregnancy and had a relapse four weeks later. When I was released from the hospital the second time I was home less than 24 hours when my water broke. I was in the labor and delivery ward for 52 hours while they pumped me full of steroids and tried to keep the baby in as long as possible. After 52 hours I was only dilated to one cm and was showing signs of possible infection as my heart rate was going up steadily so they decided to do an emergency c-section. My beautiful Katelyn was born at 32 weeks weighing in at 4 lbs. 1 oz. and 16" long. She had to stay in the nicu for almost a month, but now she is growing steadily, happy and healthy at a little over 5 months old she is now almost 15 lbs and 23" long. She's little, but beautiful

With my girl I was saying to the midwife that she's going to be early, answer was no, just because it happened last time.... Later that afternoon I sneezed and my waters broke! Went to hosp, but no contraction so sent home then stuck in traffic on way home contractions started every 5 mins, turned round and she arrived 8 hours later after getting stuck but perfectly healthy. 7lb 6 at 36 weeks!

My twins were born at 32 weeks I went into labor on my own, they were delivered naturally. I had a third child 12 months later, I went into labor on my own, but wouldn't dialate past four cm so I had a c-section with her.

I have an incompitent cervix so I dilated to 4 and didn't know what was going on very scary! I had my so when I was only 24 weeks along. After 4 days of laying upside down in the hospital trying to keep him in for as long as possible...

my 5th child was emergancy c section due to pre-eclampsia. went to the drs with what i thought was a migrane the day before xmas was sent to the hospital straight away. they did the c section xmas day and she was a 30 week gestation baby and was 3lb 3 born...the tiniest thing i've ever seen or had. needless to say that xmas that year was exciting and all the pressies for the other kids got mixed up completely as dad didnt know who was whos or where some were hidden lol shes a happy and petit girl of 3yrs and absolutely spoilt rotten :)

my first was born with an induction on 36 weeks, my second was born on 38weeks - normal, and my third was an emergency c section on 33weeks, my water broke and i got an infection. She also was breech. she is almost a year now, and all her milestones is up to date. My husband wants to try for a boy, as all three my children are girls... but I am so afraid, I don't want to go threw the whole premature and neo-natale thing again!!

I had an emergency c at 34 and 6 due to pre-eclampsia. I hadn't packed a bag or anything. Went into labor and delivery at 5pm thinking they were just going to monitor me over-night. My son was born at 3.5 hours later! He was 6lbs and 16.5 inches long. Only spent 2 days in nicu

Oh my god, It's amazing isn't it how some nurses are so unsympathetic to firt time mothers! I had the same problem with my first... although my waters had broken all the male doctors we're saying " oh they're just braxton hicks" I felt like saying "shall I kick you down south and see how you feel!" haha! (obviously I didn't lol) it wasn't until I saw the FEMALE consultant that she actually confirmed the real contractions and finally after 4 days of constant contractions I was given something more than paracetamol! not an experience I want to do again and thankfully I was at a different hospital second time around and they only left me 36 hours and that was purely due to him being early so they wanted to get the steroids in me before he was delivered. I found afterwards it was most difficult being on the ward as everyone else had there baby and both times mine were in nicu. my eldest only for 2 days (but as my first that was scary at the time) and my second was in two months. some of the nurses really didn't think about the things they said and weren't always sympathetic to the situation... some people just don't think ay! well I can totally understand the 'first time mum' syndrome, we do all know our own bodies wether it's your 1st time or your 5th, would be nice if the docs and nurses would get that! lol.

my daughter was vaginal delivery at 24+5 weeks, I drove myself to hospital the early hours of 23rd August with back pain that radiated down my thighs and legs, the hospital is only a 10/15 minute drive from home and by the time I got there I could hardly walk, luckily my cars auto lol, the security guard nearly had to carry me to the maternity ward and they kept me in overnight with strong painkillers, hooked up to machines and monitored every hour by the same nurse, when a different nurse took over for the morning shift she sent me home with painkillers and told me not to be too anxious to go back, they were just normal pains, she made a comment that a couple of weeks earlier I'd been in with reduced movements as she was the one who'd seen me then (I lost a baby years ago at 22 weeks so was concerned when didn't feel movemnets for over 24 hours from a very active baby), needless to say I felt like a stupid first time mum, got in my car which I crashed in the car park and headed home, the pains didn't go they got stronger and around 7 hours later I started bleeding, lightly at first then it was like I was peeing blood (sry for the crudeness), this went on for around 3 hours then my waters broke, I thought I'd wet myself, then about half an hour later thick blood started running down my legs so I phoned the hospital and they told me to get off the phone and phone an ambulance, I did and 10 mins later it arrived, the guys in the ambulance bless them thought I was constipated and told me to do a poop, I wouldn't but I applied a tiny bit of pressure down there and felt something crack, the guy checked me and told the driver to get to the hospital within 5 minutes, as soon as we got to hospital they raced me to L&D and out popped our daughter all within 2 mins of arrival, she was born at 11,07pm so I was in labour for over 24 hours, my placenta had haemorrhaged and we were both lucky to be alive, my husband was away at the time hence me driving myself, he was doing a trek in the jungle in Papua New Guinea and had left the day before, it was 5 days before he got home, it was a horrid experience but I've told him not to go anywhere when I eventually fall pregnant again lol........hmmm long winded but that's our story

Quoting AnneMarie:

i was dialated at 4cm for 3 weeks then my water broke..sat in the hospital for 2 more weeks then she decided to come on her own (at 34 weeks) even though they were planning on inducing me a few days later...

Hey, wow, thats quite a time to wait for an appearance ay. we're you contracting as well? I was left a week with my first as my waters went at 35 weeks and then they finally gave me a section after I'd been getting contractions and a lot of pain for a week and clearly my body wasn't budging.
