I had a c-section on June 30th, I thought the incision was opening up but my OBGYN says it's not opening up and it's only infected and perscribed me some cream to put on it. This feels like a constant bee sting. The infection doesn't seem like it's getting any better. Should I get a second opinion? Should I worry that it might need to be stitched back up?

I had a c section about a month ago and my incision got infected and my doc had to open it back up about an inch wide and 4 cm and told me to pack it once a day but it wasn't necessary to clean it with anything because packing it with gauge will clean it out should I get another opinion or does anyone know if packing it once a.day will clean it properly?

You need to get anitbiotics! my c section cut started to open, the nurse just put sterri strips on and gave me antibiotics just incase.

Keep an eye on it for sure. I had a fluid pocket about a week after my section that needed to be drained. The doctor said "sorry" as she ripped it open with no warning. I still cringe when I think of that pain!! I needed to have it packed for a while, which was pretty uncomfortable too, and that one little part did scar worse than the rest. Hope the antibiotics will work for you!

If it is hurting get it checked. Also if it has white or yellow drainage it may be a more serious infection that may require oral antibiotics. My sister n law had the same thing happen and I took a look and it was definitely infected and her OB had told her no I sent her back and most definitely was. Better to check than be sorry and the infection gets worse.

i had a section and it took 11 weeks to heal. one of the staples didnt close the skin so had a 2.5cm opening which got infected 3 times and had to go to the nurse every third day to have it dressed. i would get it checked again if it's still hurting

Does it feel hot to the touch? Usually infections of incisions are hot to the touch. It could just be taking you a little longer to heal. If it bleeds that means it is open again, so long as there is no blood you have no reason to believe that it hasn't healed. I would keep and eye on it keep putting on the cream, and if you still feel it isn't getting better or you start to develop other symptoms such as swelling, severe redness, or severe pain, I would go back to the dotor.

My sister in law had a c section and got an internal infection and didnt know until she was very sick and it was about six months untill it was healed completly so I would just say be careful and make sure to take it easy.
