Long Hospital Stay. Short Cervix

when i was first admitted to the hospital they didn't know how far along I was because I didn't know I was pregnant so when they were trying to figure out the age of the baby they told me if i was over 20 weeks that I couldnt get a stitch because it was to late and they found out I was 22 weeks and told me it was too late to get one! and now im here on bedrest

I also have a shortened cervix, but mine was caught at 22 weeks and I had a cerclage put in. I am currently 33 wks 6 days and not on bed rest. I started a group for moms with high-risk pregnancies, please stop by! There are other moms also on bed rest and that have had cervical issues.

i had the same problem and has the stitch at 16 wks.went into labour at 24 wks to get flown 8 hours away for bedrest.i was on week steroid shot and manage to hold onto 35 weeks.after having my son at 24 weeks.It was so painful being in hospital and having my 4 and 3 year olds watch by family while I struggled to stay pregnant.I feel for you honey.I found scrapbooking and reading kept me occupied and watching tv.If i wasn't contracting they wheeled me out to the gardens for a lil sunlight.Keep up the good work!!!

I've been here for almost 5 weeks already. On friday i will be 27 weeks pregnant I still have some time to go before i hit the 30's! Im hoping things will go smoothly and I deliver full term. I have some books and word search puzzles. Ive been also doing my online classes which actually help pass the time. Every Wed. &. Friday I have art therapy which is so relaxing and puts ease to your mind. All the nurses here make me feel so comfortable and talk to me everyday. I feel like when i get out of here I wouldn't know what to do because I've been away from the outside world too long! lol And I've gotten into watching LOST, i love that show now! im watching it from the beginning and its great! The baby is getting bigger now and making it so uncomfortable to sleep! He always sits so low in my belly sometimes i feel that if i stand up he will come out! So far things are great though just counting down the days! ! =] i wish you luck and hope things go great with your second baby!!

Yes it was pretty overwhelming finding outt everything all at once and really no say in what you can and cant do. But i have the support of my friends and family and everyone here to keep me sane! lol =D

I was on bedrest at home, but at 21 weeks 5 days was put on hospital bedrest for an incompetent cervix. We were hoping I'd be in for a long time (I had crossword puzzles, books, dvd player, laptop) but was only in for 9 days before I had to deliver. It makes you stir crazy and sore! I can't imagine going from finding out you are pregnant, to being put on bedrest with a possiblilty to deliver soon, only 4 weeks later!!!! What a shock!!!

I am 32 weeks with my second and on my third week of hospital bedrest (6th week of bedrest overall). I was admitted with a short cervix, and am now dilated 3 cm. Just finished up my second round of steroid shots yesterday, so now we just wait and see when this little guy is ready to show. Passing the time here can be difficult, but I have a mini-laptop, which has been invaluable. I can watch TV shows and movies, play solitaire, check e-mail, facebook, and other online communities I belong to, as well as listening to podcasts. There is a TV in my room, too, plus I have a portable DVD player and some movies from home. A book is a handy thing to have, as well as a journal to write in, and some magazines or puzzle books. My husband and 3 year old also come to visit me pretty much every day, and I talk to friends on the phone. I find it necessary for my sanity to still feel connected to the outside world in whatever way I can. If you can get a computer with a video cam, then you can talk to family and friends using a video conferencing program like Skype (free if the folks you're talking to also use Skype). I have found that extremely helpful a couple of times when my son was sick and couldn't come to see me.

I was hospitalized for 8 weeks with my second pregnancy - I started preterm labor at 29 weeks. I learned to crochet for the first time and made tons of baby blankets! Most important, I found an online group for moms on bedrest and spent hours every day online talking to other moms in my situation. Having my laptop in the hospital made a huge difference. My husband brought our 3 1/2 year old to the hospital most nights so we could have dinner together. On weekends, a friend took her for the afternoon and to come visit me so my husband could have a little time to himself. I was allowed to use the heated therapeutic swimming pool once or twice a week. I also had a massage therapist who specialized in pregnancy come twice a week.
My first baby was born at 24 weeks and I was determined to keep this one in longer - made it to 37 weeks!

i am on bed rest too , i am 28 weeks and they have told me i am having a c-section at 35 weeks , i have had c-sections before and my scar is only 1.2mm it needs to be around 3 cm, so not good , so now comes the waiting game and its not fun at all i have 4 other kids who need there mum and i just have to put this bub 1st for now i guess , we are all hoping that i make it to 35 weeks .i hope things go well for you and your bub its hard not beeing there for your other little one but worth it in the end good luck and take care xxx

I was on bed rest for months with my twins and they were born at 35 weeks. I got the shot too for their lungs, and I also have a short cervix, so I have been in the same boat. I picked up cross stitch. Lol. My Aunt found me one of the exact same thing, one for each of the kids and my goal was to get them both done before they got here. It worked!
