My little boy was born 11 weeks early weighting 2pound 13oz. I woke early with contractions my partner drove us to the nearest hospital 70 kms away, it was the longest drive. The hospital is in a little country town and they dont deliver babies but my son couldnt wait for the flying doctor to get there. The local doctor tried everything to stop him coming but he came anyway. I didnt look at him when he came out cause I didnt think he would be alive but then I heard the sweetest noise like a kitten meowing. He was alive and breathing on his own. Lucky the hospital had an incubator mind you it looked like it came out of the stone age,,we had to wait three hours for the flying doctors to pick us up and fly 400 kms to a big hospital. My 29 week old preemie was healthy and still breathing on his own, which impressed the doctors, he stayed that way, we stayed there for 5 weeks. He was fully breastfeeding when we left...he was a happy little boy and still is,,,Now hes 5yrs old and the only signs he was a 29 week old preemie are his eye lids are still a little transparent and scars from the iv on the back of his hands.
