I developed preeclampsia at 36 weeks. The only symptom that I experienced was lower back pain that went across my entire lower back. The pain lasted for an hour and I experienced an aching and cramping sensation as though my lower back was bruised and someone was pushing in the bruise really hard and when they did that it would also burn. This was out of the ordinary for me because I really was not experiencing back pain during my pregnancy. Luckily I followed my gut feeling and went to the hospital even though the back pain lasted for only an hour and went away. I was admitted into the hospital with high blood pressure. I was shocked that I had high blood pressure because I had an OBYGN appt the day before and my obgyn said that everything was going perfectly and then BANG the next day I was in the hospital for high blood pressure. It just blew my mind. The hospital also performed a 24 hour urine test that tested the protein levels in my urine which help indicate how severe the preeclampsia is. After the test results my doctor decided to keep me in the hospital until I reached 37 weeks and then he would induce me. It was horrible I was kept on bed rest and monitored constantly. I was drained from all the monitoring, blood work, and other tests. Then when I hit 37 weeks I was moved into another room where they started the induction process and that was Wed @ 3 am and I gave birth to my baby the next day at 4 pm. It was a long and uncomfortable process since my body was not ready and I was given a lot of drugs to open up I was given a lot of pit and used a couple of servidels and the doc broke my water. However luckily I started opening up because I was terrified of having a c-section. I had a healthy 7lb baby boy. Although after he was discharged from hospital he had to be readmitted into hospital for jaundice treatment and a protien allergy and was diagnosed with eczema. Anyhow, I am afraid of having another child and do not want to go through that experience again since I heard it is likely that it can happen again and Im afraid of my health on the line as well as my child's health on the line.
