reaching and grabbing for things delayed?

my 5 month old (born 2 months early at 32 weeks) doesn't grab for things yet. she can hold things, but only if you place them in her hand. then, she usually doesnt realize that she's even holding it! i feel like this function of grabbing is delayed a bit. i know she's a preemie, and maybe i should look at her as if she was a 3 month old. but even then, isn't this a little late to not be reaching and grabbing for things? she's currently teething, and seems to only want her hands and fingers all the time. it seems funny to me that shes teething before shes even started to grab things. anyone else in a situation or had a situation like this?

Blah, I had just posted a whole long reply and it didn't work. Anyway, I had said that you should def. go by her adjusted age. If you're concerned check with her Dr. We have an early intervention program in our state called 1st steps that we were referred to b/c our kids were preemies (30w 4d). They come out and do an eval to check for any issues related to speech/milestones, etc. We also have a follow up clinic that our boys go to every 3 months since they were in the NICU to be assessed regarding the different milestones they should be hitting.
