We are so lucky to have the option of steroids to help our little ones lungs develop :-) xoxo

I had the steroid shots before my son was born-the docs decided to wait the full 48 hours and delivered me exactly 48 hours after the first one, 24 after the second because of pre-e. My son was a 32 weeker and never had to have any help breathing.

Joseph had steroids through me, and the surfectant as well. he didn't have to have steroid injections after that, but was on cpap a long time, six weeks.

I got steroids shots before my son was born but the docs don't think the second had time to take effect. His lungs were very week and he was vented for about a month after birth followed by cpap and low flow. Because I'd already gotten steroids shots, he didn't get them again, instesd he was being given caffine shots. The steroid shots are a lot more effective.

I don't think my son got the steroids but he did receive surfactant as soon as he was born and was on c-pap for only 18 hours after that.

My daughter got steroid injections as well as surfactant...she was able to come off her vent just 13 hours after getting the steroids.
