I usually go with my daughter and I try talking to her about the difference between a big girl and a baby. She knows that babies cry because they have no other way of talking and that they use a diaper because they can't walk and hold themselves up on a potty. She isn't good with pulling her clothes down yet and she is bad about telling us moments too late.. so I just try to take her every time I go and also keep an eye on when I think she will need to. I figure that if I continue to help her, eventually once she can control her bowel movements, then she will just go on her own. She has only just turned two a few months ago so I don't expect her to be perfect just yet.

Make it a fun game, put fruit loops in the water and see how many he can sink. Dad's help is always a plus.

He is only 19 months, but his adjusted age is 16 months. He seems interested in it, but he loves to play with the cup... which I think is extremely yucky. He hates a wet or dirty diaper and will take them off when he has them. That is why I am really trying to get him to go on the potty chair.

I just got ours too and he's doing the same thing. We should prbably let them get use to it being in the house for a week. Then maybe we can start using it the correct way.

My son wanted nothing to do with it at first. We just kept the potty chair where he could see it and we had about 2x of trying and then finally right before his 3rd birthday he was all for it and within Id say a month he was sleeping without anything and only had 1 big accident. He's been potty trained now for almost 10 months and he's only had maybe 5 accidents. I think all children do it when they want to and when their ready. Just give it time and he'll be ready. How old is he?

How old is your son? I used the reward system, when they peed they got one sticker and when they pooped they got 2, they were so excited to show everyone who walked in the door how many stickers they had. Once they filled the chart, about 25 stickers, they got to pick a small prize out of a treasure chest, stickers, little ball etc. They were potty triained in 2 days.

I remember a show Dr. phil did on potty traing. he said to get a doll the pees and buy some little party blow outs and hats. Then he said to put the doll on the potty and make it go. Then he said to throw the doll a little party. He say's that your child will want that praise so bad that he or she will want to go as well,However I bribed mine with candy and it worked well too so diferent things work for different people.
