My dau was born 8 lbs but had premature lungs, she did not go over 30 pounds until she was almost 4. She did not make it on the plus (positive) side of that growth chart in weight until she was 5 years old. We had a party when she made the +4%. Now... 13 years later, she is "normal" in weight. As someone else said, as long as your child is not losing weight try not to stress which is so hard, I still watch everything my dau eats. (smile)

My daughter was an IUGR 32 weeker, 2 lbs 13 ozs and now at 22 months (20 adj) was 17 lbs 5 ozs last week.

My son is almost 2 this yr. He was born a month early. I am still struggling with his weight. He is a very active kid. Last time I went to the WIC office he weighed like 17pds 10ozs. I don't know what the normal weight is for a 2 yr.old.But I understand what the moms r going though.

i had my 27 weeker preemie in march. he was 3 lbs 2 ozs. hes almost ten months now and is 21 lbs. he has a spit up problem but docs werent worried since hes still gaining weight.

My daughter was a 35 weeker at 5lbs 6oz. At a year old, she was 19lbs and at 18 months is 20 1/2 pounds. I gave her formula and didnt breastfeed...so maybe the extra calories from the preemie formula got ther weight going a bit. she's still on the small side compared to a lot of babies but she eats normal and is fine in every other way. I dont mind...I'm kind of glad I can still carry her around. lol

Her weight did start to plateu when she started to walk...but I would think that is expected.

my daughter was born at 29 weeks! she has always been really small! she is now 16 months old and weighs 17 lbs. wears 3-6 month clothes and has to drink pediasure for the extra cals. but she is healthy and its ok that she is small. health wise being small isnt an issue. it just makes her more special. one specialist finally told us that as long as she isnt losing weight and is gaining weight steadily (even if only small ammounts) then she is fine. they will eventually catch up better.

I had my daughter at 25 weeks.(Aug. 13 2009 ) she is now 17 months and is now at 18lbs and wears size 6 months .clothing..she weighted 1 lb 2 oz at birth

My daughter was born in March 2008 at 30 weeks (2lb.,9oz). So, she's almost 3 and only weighs 25 lbs. and is in size 18-24 month clothing. Her pediatrician was concerned about her weight awhile ago and he suggest giving her food with a lot of fat in it (ex. keep her on homogenized milk, put a spponful of ice cream on her apple sauce, give her cheesies). I felt like a bad parent but it did help her gain about 3lbs in 6 months. It also depends on your body type as parents. I'm a fairly tiny person so our dr. thinks that she just may be tiny like me. I would suggest not stressing over it. As long as your child isn't losing weight and is still advancing in their milestones, then you know your child is progressing.

hi my daughter was born 19th july 2009 (1196grams or 2pound 6 at birth) at 12mths she was in size 0 or 6mths clothes now at18 months she's just on 19pounds no developmental delay walks talks feeds herself but she's small still in a 0 or small 1 my pediatrician said she's just the small package i asked for as my other 3 were all over 9pounds. But i did find that when i stopped b/feeding she gained more weight.. good luck

I had a little girl Feb 2009 she was 4lb 6 oz at birth and she will be turning 2 next month and she is 17lb, she is 27 inches tall. She has medical issues and gains very slowly.

My daughter was born Nov 24, 2009 and she is 15 lbs 1 oz. We have had many struggles with weight gain since she was born. She is on a feeding tube and we didn't know for a long time we were over feeding her and that's why she was getting sick. We had 3 months with no gain at all and now it is still a slow process.

My little one was born May 2010 at 33wks weighing 3lbs 5oz. He's now 8mths and he's now 17lbs 8oz. He was drinking Enfamil Enfacare until he was six months. Drinking that helped him gain weight. He's now drinking Good Start Gentle Plus and eating baby food and cereal and I also give him mashed potatoes and other soft foods

Janet- she was 5lbs when she was born (so big in the preemie world) He lenght is moving as slowly as her weight. The dr.'s said she needs high caloric too. Which we have been doing for about two months now. Her weight is staying put most of the time but is has started to go down now at about .05 oz a visit. Her length has not been moving also. Elli does not have any teeth yet.... My other daughter who was born preemie also (4lbs) never had these issues. She is on her own curve but growing. Sammie- I had to push the Dr.'s when I went to her 4m visit, b/c that is when I started to see the trend. The Endo Dr. said as long as she is not loosing she is good, and just a slow grower. But now that she is lossing and moving forward I do not know what to do.

My 35 weeker was born in May 2010, his birth weight was 4 lbs 6 oz, now he is 8 months and weight 11 lbs 15oz. I took him to see few doctors but seems doesn't help. =(

I had a premmie in Jan 2010... born at 31 wks and only 2lb9. he is just over a year now and only weighs 12lb5. i stopped breastfeeding in november when hegot very sharp teeth. He is on infatrini - high calorie milk... he doesnt eat very much, but the dietician at the hsop has advised me to put cream cheese in his food, give him chocolate, anything calorific. i'm still waiting for him to catch up - he is well off the bottom of the chart. What weight was she born at? have you had your HV do her length? I decided as long as his length measurement was growing ok then I wouldnt worry too much.
